    Yeah just saw this.

Should be an awesome move, I'd like Girardi though also.

I know you guys don't like Torre's in-game decisions and all but don't you think you're being a little harsh on the guy who lead you to 4 rings and 10 or so straight postseason appearances?

wow as a met fan im disgusted.... way to get rid od one of the only good things you guys had goin. Im feeling for joe right now, steinbrenner always makes things more dramatic than they should be and rather than dumping that piece of choking crap arod he dumps one of the best managers in the game. Yankees suck, pinella wont get these chumps to the playoffs next season. METS IN 06!!!!! great job willieee!!

Joe was great for us in the dynasty era, this type of team is different fro Joe. Joe is a good manager but hes not the right fit for this team. I think we need a change.

    Yes it was.

And the first thing you do after your team advances to the NLCS is heckle the fans of another team? You're obviously trying to make up for years of feeling inferior, and we all know it. Don't even bother.

I was hoping this would happen, but I didn't believe for one second it would, if I'm being honest.

    With that said... great news.

I am all for it. I could never tell if Torre was awake or sleeping in the dugout.
Its not his fault that the O went dead but after but his lack of aggressiveness this year was horrible. He was content to sit back and wait for the 7 run HR that never came.
Thanks for the memories Joe but it doesnt seem like you care anymore.

Sounds like "volcanic eruptions" from Steinbrenner just as Francesa, on Friday afternoon, said would be the case if the Yankees were to lose.

    From Peter Abraham's blog:

Abraham's one to talk about "knee-jerk reactions". I know Piniella likes A-Rod, and they have a history together, but calm down Peter. As long as Derek Jeter wears this uniform, it will always be his team. A-Rod's mother could manage the team, it still wouldn't change the fact that the Yankees are Jeter's team, not A-Rod's.

Piniella loves Mattingly, always has from the days Mattingly played under him. I'm still not buying this, I think once some sense is talked into the Boss Torre will remain the Yankees manager. Jeter, Mo, Posada they all love him and I think we run the risk of alienating all the winners on this team by hiring Lou Piniella. If you really want to fire Torre fine, but keep it in house, promote Mazz or Donny or hire Girardi.
