This might get me killed here....but anybody who completely blames Doug Brien for the '04 playoff game and doesn't put the onus on Herm for playing for 40-yard plus FGs on this field in the middle of January is crazy.

I remember that. Calling two kneel plays for one yard losses when even a dive up the middle would have done the trick. Pathetic. -X-
Especially when we were gashing the Steelers about 6 to 8 yards a play before that. Especially after Shottenheimer did the same thing a week earlier with a rookie kicker (Kaeding) to basically hand us the chance to win. I'll always dislike Herm because of the Pitt. playoff game. Granted Brien could have made one, but playing for 40-plus-yard FGs, Herm didn't coach that game like he was "playing to win the game."
