The Jets have an extra 3rd next year from the Revis deal. Maybe take the 3rd to the Rams and see if they're willing to give up Bailey? The Jets WR's blow viscous chunks all over the field. Bailey is not big and he's not fast but he has a big catch radius even so and he has major chemistry with Geno Smith.
I was just thinking about this last night. I haven't given any thought to the jets trading for him, simply cuz the chances of it are pretty much zero percent. But anyway i have noticed it that he hasn't even gotten on the field for them yet..unreal.
If we could get him for that I would jump at the deal. He is a solid receiver that excels at the mid range routes.
I wanted us to draft Bailey and think he was still available in the 4th, at the spot we traded for Ivory. But, given that and the fact he hasn't seen the field yet, isn't a third a bit high for him? It doesn't seem like an Idzik move to me, he's prepared to wait and see what falls rather than shaking the tree. It's going to be frustrating as hell though.
You probably had it in your head that we took Ivory over him. I'm guessing you're not much of an Ivory guy. In reality, we took Winters over him.
Yeah, you're right, I did think that. Quite like Ivory, but I did think at the time that having already got Goodson we could pick up another do a job FA guy without giving up any picks. However, Goodson's woes have made me wrong on that score too!
What would it take to get Kenny Britt back home? Or do most of you not think he's worth taking a chance on?
What about Dwayne Bowe? He'd be a pretty good fit here, and we could use the deep threat that the Chiefs don't seem to have any interest in. Seriously Alex Smith threw only 4 passes past 10 yards in last nights game and none of them were targeted towards Bowe.
Why would they do it? Aside from the fact that they have a good receiver as depth? If the Jets were deep at WR and Kerley was a depth guy, and the QB was suspect... which it is... would you trade him?
They might do it because Bailey didn't hit the ground running for them and grab one of the prominent WR roles in his first camp. He's not in the slot for them, he's 3rd on the depth chart behind Chris Givens and Brian Quick, who are 23 and 24 years old respectively. On the other side the Rams have Austin Pettis (25) and Tavon Austin, who is likely to be the slot guy forever in St. Louis at this point. As to your question, if Kerley was buried 3rd on the depth chart at Split End with another guy clearly entrenched as the slot receiver and all the other receivers were young I think the Jets might have taken a 5th round pick for him after his first camp. NFL value is mutable. If you are on the field and doing well your value is on the field for your team. If you're on the depth chart and not playing a draft pick is often worth just as much.
I don't think Sam Bradford would enter in the decision as to whether or not to trade Stedman Bailey for a 3rd round pick in next year's draft.
Sam Bradford is a QB that has not proven his draft position. And he has an OC that is dependent on playmakers instead of scheme. Wide receiver depth is very important to those named in terms of job security.
