Heading into the '06, which pair of corners do you see as the starters? Im omitting Strait, because realistically there is little chance he beats out Miller, Dyson, or Barrett for one of the starting slots.

Its clear Miller and Dyson are the future at the position, and Miller didnt make many rookie mistakes last year when he was in, but i still think Barrett played well last season and deserves the spot and will probably win it in training camp, but Miller will still get a lot of time and return kicks

We'll have a very good Nickel corner whoever loses the battle between Miller/Barrett...And a very solid #2 CB, with Miller having loads of potential, the man is only 22.

I'd rather have Dyson/Miller since we're in a rebuilding mode...But I wouldn't be mad if Barrett WINS the job.

Hopefully Miller brings his A game to camp. I think it will wind up being Barrett and Dyson, but I hope it is Miller and Dyson. Miller and Dyson would provide some real speed outside which could help lead to big plays.

Barrett and Dyson will start week 1 IMO, few weeks after that i see miller taking Barrett's starting spot.

I can't be the only person on this board who thinks Justin Miller was just awful last year could I? He has all the tools in the world, he just needs to put it together. He looked flat-out horrific in coverage at times last year. Dyson will obviously start at either RCB or LCB. Barrett on the otherhand deserves to keep his job untill Miller clearly becomes the better choice. I love Strait covering the slot receiver, I always have.

As much as I want to see Miller earn a starting spot in camp, I'd be stunned if it isn't (deservedly at this point) Dyson and Barrett. Also if you're going to give Miller a chance to earn a spot, Strait should get the same chance IMO.

I thought he did pretty well in coverage but if I see him line up to return another punt I will break something.

I would like to see miller and dyson, but realistically, it will be barrett and dyson, vets will get the nodl only because of the experience, miller will play nickel, and will probably start in the 2007-08 season.

Miller lived up to his draft reports. Uncoachable, no instincts in coverage but loads of 'potential'. According to official Jet stats, he had 0 INT's and just 2 pass breakups despite starting 8 games. Here's his ratings compared to all defensive players in the entire NFL. Scroll down to the bottom to find Justin Miller.

How do you figure that Dyson is the Jets future at corner? I certainly hope that he isn't--the Jets are his 3rd team in 3 years!

I agree with you on Miller and he better come to camp with his head screwed on straight or he could be a guy they move.

While I think Dyson and Barrett will start the season at CB, I would also think that Strait would start at nickel. Strait has been groomed at the nickel for 2 years now while Miller is still trying to get acclimated to being a cover corner.

Only training camp shall tell. I hope its Dyson and Miller, but having Miller as a nickel back and strait as a dime back would be nice. This is to say that I think Dyson is a definite at one of the two CB spots.

While Miller was terrible last year I'd like to see him get a chance again this year. Dyson and Barrett are journeymen that aren't very good, Miller is the only one I see that has any "upside". At least seems to have some of the requisite physical skills that a good corner needs. Of course if he continues to play terribly the secondary could look even uglier then it does now.

Barrett has played for the Cardinals for 5 season and now the Jets while Dyson played 5 with the Titans (cut for cap reasons) and then spent one year with the Seahwawks. How do they constitute "journeymen"?

Regardless, Barrett is a decent #2 who would have looked even better if Eric Coleman had offered him some assistance last season. Dyson, while not a #1 corner (if those even exist anymore outside of Bailey) is still very good. The Unit has depth with Strait at the nickel and Miller somewhere in the mix.

The Jets have 4 above average CBs IMO, hopefully Mangini can turn that into a strong unit. At little competition is always good as well.

I like Miller but he showed nothing to warrant that he will be a good player or a good starter this year. I certainly hope he becomes one and I think that he can, but if you ask me who starts at corner now, Barret and Dyson.

He's 26 years old, why wouldn't he be apart of the Jets future at CB? He played 4 years at Tennessee I believe(4 seasons 16 INTs?), then got his pay-day in Seattle, got cut for cap reasons...And is now here.

It's not like he's Terrell Buckley

"Journeyman" doesn't refer to someone that has moved around alot or played for alot of teams. It's someone that has proven they can do their job but is not especially talented or skilled. I think the label fits both Barrett and Dyson quite well.
