Dear Gator, Donte Stalloworth hit and killed a meaningless human being. His professional football career is much more important then that innocent family man's life.
So 30 days for killing a HUMAN, and Vick gets 23 months in jail??? I'm sorry, but that is the most fukked up thing I have ever read. You think if Vick ran over the dogs with cars, he would have gotten a slap on the wrist???? UNREAL...
Vick got exactly what he deserved, probably even less. You can't look at this relatively. The fact is Stallworth got off with a bullshit punishment. Totally ridiculous.
Clearly that undisclosed financial settlement was the key to this whole thing. If this had been a middle/upper class family, they probably would've pushed for justice. I'm guessing they don't have that luxury and need a monster settlement to support the family. I hope he gets stuck doing some really demeaning shit for his 1,000 hours of community service. Fuck speaking at schools. He should have to go to a massive trauma ward and empty catheters of comatose DUI victims for the next ten years. With his mouth.
Dear Mr.E, A couple million dollars does in fact, buy some classy hookers and a yacht. sincere regards, MB
Fair? Not really. The Plea deal was made to avoid a messy situation with an obscure flordia law that finds a driver not at fault for hitting a pedestrian if they try to avoid contact. By the witness reports Stallworth tried to flash his lights and swerve. It would have been a messy court situation and the DA would have killed his carrer if he lost this case. The plea agreement works for both sides, but not the family. They should make a good deal of money in the civil case though. Sad end to a very stupid crime.
Dear MB, I didn't think of that way...I think I'll go back to the "Dear Jets" thread started by Gator and vent. Best, Mr E
HE got 30 days plus 2 years house arrest and 8 years probation, a lifetime driving ban and 1000 hours community service that actually isn't that much below the standard for a plea deal in that kind of case, Particularly based on what little facts have been released in the case, 1 he didn't flee the scene and called police, 2 he made some attempt to warn the pedestrian, 3 the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and based on the fact it was on the macarthur causeway stallworth's lawyers could make a decent case that there was nothing he could do to avoid the accident. the real issue isn't that he's an athelete it's that DUI manslaughter laws are obscenely low, the max is 15 years and almost no one gets that.
