Stafford named Starter in Detroit

    via Adam Schefter. I don't know if it is the right move or not. He looks like he could be a great QB, but you do not want him to turn into David Carr in Houston.

    In related news (This is not a joke), Mangini said he has chosen his starting QB, but will not reveal it this week. Is this guy nuts????

    The Lions added some protection for him this year by getting Pettigrew who is a fantastic young TE who excels at blocking. He has Kevin Smith to lean on in his runnign game and Calvin johnson to throw to. I think Stafford will be jsut fine. Its the defense in Detroit that is so bad its shameful.

    One thing that works in Stafford's favor here is that he's got the "gunslinger" mentality that gets the media so goddamned wet. A few interceptions aren't gonna make this guy gun shy.

    Still, I think that Culpepper's a better player right now and it would help Stafford more to watch from the bench for a season.

    Remember the Baltimore game in 2007? The game had started, and we didn't even know who was going to play QB until Clemens ran on the field.

    Yeah and then no one actually played QB until the 4th Quarter. And a certain #81 decided not to play WR. Fun day.
