This is the first video game that both my kids (and me too, for that matter) enjoy playing. Has anyone else here played this game on the Wii U?

no but I heard it was a cool game. After the Wii I promised myself to never buy a Nintendo console again.

Ringing endorsement for anyone intelligent to stay away from this game.

I bought the game for my little sister. I was not at all looking forward to playing it with her, but after I gave it an hour or so I was totally hooked. I even went home and bought it on my Wii U too.

Unless you've played the game longer than 15 minutes, you really have no right to criticize it. It's surprisingly really fun.

I hear ya. It was a bit of a letdown save a couple games. The Wii U is miles better though. I really recommend it. I haven't even bought a PS4 yet because I've been so involved with it.

May I ask why? Had I made bad game recommendations before?

I couldn't agree more. While there is a degree of mindless insanity, due to the soundtrack, the colors, and ink flying everywhere, the strategy of the game is so much different than your usual shooter because the target to win the game is the floor, and not your opponents. Sure, blasting them puts them out of play for 10 seconds, but if you just hunt the opposition, your team can still lose, and often do.

Nintendo's poor marketing of the Wii U was astounding. "Hey, let's release a new console, without having any good games available for it! People will buy it anyway, because we are Nintendo!" When the Wii U was release, the only good games were Mario Bros Wii U and Pikmin 3. Funny hot the console sales shot up after they release, i dunno, GOOD GAMES for it!!! (Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Mario 3D, Splatoon)

Plus, I freely admit a guilty pleasure of squashing enemies with the paint roller:

I'm a big fan of the soundtrack. It has a certain optimistic nostalgic sound to it.

Are you into the ranked battles yet? I think ranked is better than the standard regular online mode. There are multiple different modes too.

I know it's been criticized for not having option to choose, or to choose the map, but it's kind of nice. Nobody gets upset theirs wasn't picked. There is no deciding. You just hop online and go.

Plus they change everything so often with the FREE updates(dlc) that the little things don't bother you much.

If I had to choose 1 complaint, it would be the lackluster 2 player local mode, and lack of 2 local player online completely.

In closing though, I think it's the best non Mario game Nintendo has released since Wii Sports.

they were banking on the Wii name thinking its still 2006 all over again. The Wii U is tanking Nintendo but Nintendo could bounce back with Pokemon Go which is set to hit smartphones next year.

If you played INGRESS its going to be a lot like that except with Pokemon..

One of my co-workers tried so hard to get us to all play that game, but it just seemed so stupid. I can assure you that that kind of game won't do much for Nintendo.

It was fun for awhile but you must go outside and explore! People don't want to do that anymore lol.

It'll be interesting to see what they do since its now pokemon and you can trade, etc.

I'll give it a download though and see if it's actually fun to play. But it's basically a giant Google data trap.

Wow @mute that video for that game/app is awful. Talk about over-exaggerating something... I can only imagine the disappointment in kids faces once they realize those pokemon are only on their phones, if they even are haha.

I agree that the Wii U WAS tanking Nintendo, but the release of some good games actually raised the Wii U to respectable levels of sales.

LOVE the "One minute left tune! I hear that in my head while I drive to work.

Just started them. How do you select the different modes?

The amount of updates are insane. It probably is one of the reasons that the game continues to sell. I agree about the local 2 player mode, but given the design of the game, how do you get around it?

You don't get to choose the modes. They change every day, I think even throughout the day. Rainmaker is my favorite mode. There is the mode where you have to ride the box all the way to their base, and there is the mode where you have to get 2 bases covered in your ink for a time period.

With 2 player local, IDK why they couldn't have just thrown in the general get the most paint mode. It would be simple, and fun to have to rely on yourself, and yourself only.
