Whenever I do a franchise mode I almost always draft, in the first year, a speed RB and a power RB. Then I usually do a RBBC...
Gotta go with Speed. You can always get break tackle up in training camp. There is nothing better then having a back whos speed, BT, and agility in the high 90's.
Draft someone with high speed with the intention of putting him the TC and building up his BT in the span of a few years, thereby making him a top tier balanced RB.
I love power. I once drafted a RB who is 6'3" and is 250 pounds, it is amazing breaking 2 or 3 tackles in a play. I find that he breaks more long runs than my speed back.
I'm a speed guy. In Madden I pass a lot more then I run so I usually like a quick running back to catch passes out of the backfield. When I do run it's usually a counter (that I break to the outside or to a hole) or a toss, both plays that demand speed.
I have to say a speedy RB with about a 75 in Tackle Breaking. I don''t play too much though so I don't get to experiment enough with RBs. I have to say I hate in Madden drafting when you get a guy who is 95 in Tackle Breaking and about a 65 in stregth. Or you get a WR with a 30 Strength and 70 Tackle Breaking. It really bugs me.
balanced... best running play is I-Form, HB counter... once you get it to the outside, use the "truck-stick" and you can break a big run every time
Singleback-Big is the best running formation. 90% of the time it's your 7 against their front 7 and if you take the ball off tackle you'll only have the safety and corner to beat. If you run it right it's a guaranteed 7 yards on every play with a chance for 60 if you make a good move or two.
Edited by TDJoey... I know the people have been Jessie and MisterMoss and other notable posters but who the hell is TDJoey?
It's all about the acceleration for me. Thank god they (kind of) fixed the problem that made speed and acc vastly different. The past few years you could get a kid with 97 spd and 73 acc, making him useless.
Powerback and shot passes, ball control I like to eat up the clock. It has to be kind of boring to play against me.
You have to have some speed because those defenders really come out of no where to hit you but you need a decent hit stick because as soon as you round the corner there will be DB there. Once you stick him off, you have the sideline.
Considering i don't need a great back i usually end up drafting one, therefore i take whoever's the best back. I can play with both.
I do remember having Bettis for Madden 03 I think and he would just break tackles consistently. He would roll over DB's and was very tough to bring down. I guess it depends on the style of game you want to play.
