Is anyone else really worried about this aspect? I mean if Kyle Wilson is one of our two major kick returners, we could be in some big trouble there. Im sorry, but he is absolute garbage as a returner (I'll leave his CB play alone). We are probably better off taking a touch back instead of him returning. Clyde Gates showed some ability back there, but as we know, he isnt the most durable and we are very shallow at WR as is. One concussion and we are left with Wilson as our primary returner. Yeah. The Pats just resigned Leon, and I was hoping that we would sign him. He would be perfect for us and fill this pretty big hole. Joe McKnight didnt contribute much as a RB, but he was a good return man, and a hell of a lot better than Kyle Wilson. With a rookie QB, field position could prove to be even more important. Do any of you have the same concern I do?...
Odd NE signed him now where everything is guaranteed. I wonder if the Jets were planning on signing him Monday and they found out.
Hopefully Goodson can add some life to the return unit when he returns. But yeah, gates scares the shit out of me back there
Cro was a good returner but the Jets can't risk him getting injured. Its prolly gonna be Gates until Goodson returns. Another option could be Alex Green.
Kyle Wilson is a pathetic punt returner. I was optimistic that the Jets would sign Leon ar KR until week 5, but apparently he wasn't interested in that. Yeah, I'm concerned about the return game overall. We don't appear to have much for options.
I don't understand what happened to Wilson's return skills. He was a serious threat back at Boise in the PR return game.
Well that too obviously, but it would help Geno out and take some pressure off of him if we had some threat at KR.
Yes i have the same concern at KR, and was also hoping to sign Leon. i'm not confident in Gates or Wilson. Kerley also isn't the best punt returner. was too many fair catches inside the 5 yd line. at that point, take the chance on the touchback. he's also a bit of a fumble risk. might be worth looking into a short term return specialist.
All I can remember in recent seasons is _________ (insert player name) waving his arm in the air for fair catch. Don't see this changing any time soon.
So many kicks will fly out of the back of the end zone anyways it will hardly matter. We have way more pressing matters.
More concerned with Punt returns than with Kick off returns since they changed the kickoff positioning. The punt game generally effects field position more over the course of a game than the kickoff returns.
I agree, that was one of his strengths and a supposedly added bonus when we drafted him. STRENGTHS Wilson is a fast-twitch corner who possesses tremendous athleticism. He’s a durable performer who did not miss any games while at Boise State. Instinctual player who displays great anticipation in pass coverage. Possesses impressive ball skills. Also a candidate to help out in the return game, which only increases his value. Did nothing but produce for the Broncos. stats of note – 50 games/46 starts … 160 total tackles … 11 INTs, 27 passes broken up … 63 punt returns for 793 yards and 3 TD returns
