Gotta give Macc his props. 4 years in and we're not worried about letting almost half the roster walk due to a lack of quality. #clockistickingMacc
I’ve been one of the few guys here giving Mac the benefit of the doubt . That being said your post does kinda hit the nail on the head . The Darnold pick extended his stay for another year .....He needs to hit a HR or two these next 6 weeks. He needs to get this moving .....
You've heard my rants about fielding these B squad talent... that has been their approach because they refused to spend so now we have a bunch of mediocre talent surrounding a few 1st round lucky picks that were pretty much MADE FOR HIM. They better spend this money if not there will be a mutiny!
Your right about b squad talent, but it's not due to lack of spending. Macs had the money to spend in 15 and 18, and pissed it away. Since he's been here we are one of the biggest spending teams in the league and have about 1/4 roster to show for it. 37 free agents and the 3 most agree should be resigned are a player we got for a 7th round pick, a kicker and punt returner. Fuck, this just changed my mind on signing Bell. Cancer or not, this team lacks talent on both sides and at every position.
I still have hope for the Tru Johnson signing. I feel very confident that Gregg will get the most out of him. My only big knocks on Mac are Hack and his very poor mid round selections. He seems to hit on some late picks, but swings and misses in the mid rounds. That has to change!
I've never understood the Jets philosphy in the 2nd round where they attempt to overdraft someone based on potential. Sure, if they hit, it will be a steal, but there is a reason they are falling, and they would likely still fall further. We have a chance to get a top 50 prospect and they always try for a Stephen Hill or Hack. Just pick a great player.
MCC might be the lowest effort abbreviation I’ve ever seen. Just add an A and make the CC lowercase. Same amount of keystrokes if you include pressing the shift button.
Hack and 3, 4 and 5 getting cut after 1 year I can’t forgive. He's bought a lifeline with Sam but he has to knock it out of the park in the next few months.
Silly me, I really thought we had a couple of nice finds in Stewart and Hansen. Not even in the league after 1 year. I can accept Donahue busting as a 5th rounder but on the heels of blowing a 3rd and 4th?
Hansen and Stewart were awful misses. No excuse to miss that badly especially within same draft. I thought Hansen was going to develop into a poor man's Cooper Kupp, but alas...
in the mid rounds he always drafts the same types of players - the underachiever from one of the big football schools. And they underachieve in the NFL. Time for a new strategy maccagnan. Also, someone should tell him it is okay to draft an offensive lineman once in awhile
Its not about spending, it is about a almost complete inability to scout and draft players outside of round 1 that are NFL players. His draft record in rounds 2-4 is awful.
What makes me worried is that he is who he is. Do well in round 1, find a few contributors in subsequent rounds, but miss way too often in those rounds.
