This is definitely one of the things that frustrated me about BS's offense. It took too long to get the plays into Mark and it took too long for everyone to get lined up.

Awesome speeding up the tempo will get the offense in rhythm early which bodies well for Mark and the offensive line

If the tempo is fast we will need to make sure to take advantage of the depth because players will fatigue faster. More so at the RB position and WR also

This is such a fresh breath of air... Sanchez has always been a no-nonsense up tempo QB (see his success in the 2 min offense), not the fucking braniac field general (ala Pennington) needed to succeed in Schotty's O.

I can now see why they hired Sparano.

Schotty's system was not conducive to the constant shuffling of WRs every year. As reported by players, his system is designed for each and every player to make reads and react based on his read. That means the QB is making reads but so are each of his WRs, TEs, etc. It is possible that even if Sanchez was making the right read it wasn't the same read his WRs were making.

I love that Sparano is simplifying this and removing the "finesse" from the offense. Line up, execute, and punch someone in the mouth. I don't think this change is getting near enough consideration from the media. But then again there are no original ideas from the media and no research for that matter. But why bother when they can just stir up a new "Revis to hold out" shitstorm again.

Not to be the kil-joy, but every OC wants an up tempo offense. This is just a writer filling space. No body wants a slow offense. Now we just wait for the execution... will it be up tempo or not?

Disagree. Schotty for example wantd so many motions and shifts before the snap. You can't be both that and up tempo.

I'm very excited to see Sanchez, Holmes, Hill, etc. in an offense without three possible routes per WR being called in the huddle on a given play. Seeing guys run into each other on crossing routes last year pretty much summed up the 2011 NYJ in one play.

Regardless of tempo, the offense is simpler and easier to grasp. It won't be all smoke and mirrors like others have said, but straight up beat your assignment football.

I always thought up tempo meant getting in plays before the huddle and then getting in and out of the huddle. It has nothing to do with what happens once the O has gotten in position after breaking the huddle.

You are confusing apples and oranges. An up tempo offense does not mean shifts and motions are not used.

Countless times, we saw the Offense break the huddle and get to the LoS with about 15 seconds left on the Play Clock. Glad to know this won't be the case anymore.

I always saw Schottenheimer's offense as being a very calculated precision offense. I don't think that's equal to up tempo.

The Patriots have a true genuine up tempo offense, and they've shredded us with it. I don't think anyone would confuse the last 6 years with that.

how terrible was the KC games 1st play? anyone remember?
we received the ball and on the 1st play from scrimmage we had to call timeout bc we didn't get the play in to sanchez on time.

next play greene ran for 41 yards but still a timeout on the 1st play from scrimmage bc the play clock ran out?????

My point was it was not the shifts and motion that were why the Jets did not have a more up tempo offense. Was my point really that obscure?

Nope. I checked. It was not obscure.

Poor discipline. Showed with the amount of penalties too. Mulligan and Hunter in particular. Thank God one of them is gone.

I think the discipline will be greatly improved this year...

That was so absurd!! I couldn't believe we had to call a timeout on the first play of the game.

Agreed here. If the play is in quick, and things are whirling and moving, that is up tempo.

Should someone want to call Schotty down tempo, point to the substitutions on every other play and the hike call at :01 secs.

But regardless, its all just talk. Everyone says they want an up tempo offense. Its rhetorical.
