http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/07/asia/south-korea-thaad-suspended/index.html Perhaps they haven't been paying attention to Phatboi up north. Maybe they think he can be "persuaded" to give up his nukes and play nice. Maybe this new SoKor President is the most naive leader since Neville Chamberlain. I feel bad for the 28K US troops stationed there as I used to be one of them. I didn't think much of SoKor back during the Unification Movement and this shows me nothing has changed. If SoKor doesn't want missile protection, then fine. I don't see the sense of having a ground presence of US troops there as without a MD, they're clay pigeons. Maybe they can talk Phatboi into not blowing them off the face of the earth. Perhaps the ChiComs can lend a helping hand for once. I would pull all US ground troops off the peninsula back to Japan and let SoKor persue their detente. No reason to defend those that refuse to defend themselves.
Could never understand the thinking where Country X and Country Y have missiles that they could launch and hit Country Z. Country Z says they are going to install a missile defense system, Countries X and Y get pissed that Country Z would dare put these defense systems in place. What is even harder to understand is when Country Z actually thinks twice because Country X and Country Y are pissed.
