ugggh sure would have loved a 3rd in that deal. 3 and 4 would have been nice. oh well we needed to clear that cap space anyway and although i would have liked to see what he could do at de it wasnt worth doing for 12 million or whatever it was cap hit. still wish there was a 3 in there somewhere.
interesting point.. its good to have flexibility.. same as how we drafted last year.. if we see someone that we really like but is just out of our reach in say the 2nd or 3rd, we now have the ability to make some moves.
Hmm, I'm feeling hosed by this. Although for what we got Kris Jenkins for, i'm guessing this was around the going rate around the league.
DRob isn't better than Jenkins, or a healthy Stroud, who the teams had to give a 3rd and 5th for. 4th and 5th is pretty fair when you consider what those to DTs received and what they've done in the league. I'm so happy to see him gone though.
I can't recall a busier offseason for the Jets - and this is just the first week. We finally get rid DRob's contract. I wonder if this would've gone down had the Bengals' trade with Rodgers fell through? Would the Browns wanted to trade for Robertson? Just wondering.
We got Jenkins, a much better and more proven player, for a 3rd and a 5th. This is fine compensation for Robertson.
So in effect....in our DT trades...We lose DRob and a 3rd and get back KJenkins and a 4th.... I cant complain.
In retrospect, the No.4 pick overall in 2003 netted a third and fifth-rounder in 2008. At least he was worth something, anything, even with that huge contract.
Who knows if we selected Polamalu and Nick Barnett? But in reality I wanted Ty Warren and Boss Bailey...So I would of hit on one, just not the other.
