http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/player?id=11003&draftyear=2007 Amobi Okoye. His father was my favorite player in the NFL at one point in my life (not coincidentally, a dark period for NY jets football). Obviously he's expected to go in the teens and not the 20's of RD1, but if he slipped down for some fluke reason...this is my guy. Big boy who is athletic, can play NT while Dewayne moves into Kimo. And the Nigerian Nightmare comes to games, to cheer on his son. And the Jets. Thoughts on Amobi, besides the one about him not being there for us when we pick?
He's young as hell....lot of upside and raw talent there. It's funny actually he's also the guy I've really hoped would fall to 25 for the Jets to pick up.
To me he is the riskiest player in this draft, and really doesn't fit our D anyway. Entering the NFL at his age will be ridiculously tough on him. Not only that, but DT's usually have ridiculous learning curves and are usually highly volatile in the draft. It could literally take him years before he bulks up enough to be a true NT. Do I like him as a prospect? Hell yes. Do I think he's a fit for the Jets? No.
When it's all said and done, this guy will not make it to our pick, I'm almost positive. He is a great prospect who i think can be a legit playmaker in the 4-3. He would be able to play 3-4 just because he is that talented and is big enough, but the 4-3 will suit him well.
He dropped 15 pounds for the senior bowl. He'd fit the Jets. He won't be there but I would trade up for him. I think he's going to be the next Warren Sapp. His Father was tremendous and think he will be too.
Exactly. Warren Sapp sucks in the 3-4. Why would we trade up to get a player that doesn't fit? Because he's young and has a good attitude?
