nyjetscap nyjetscap Busy week guys and I wont have time to update salaries until this weekend, but Dustin Keller's new salary is 3.052M, a jump of $2M nyjetscap nyjetscap Mike Devito received a 300K and a Shonn Greene 50K increase Cap numbers will jump for team by about 2.35million Great... those 2.35 mill would've been very useful to get a new safety. Not the end of the world but Tannenbaum will really have to find a smart way to bring good players in this year.
I'm not a salary cap guru, so maybe someone here will know: Is it possible that Mark Sanchez restructures his contract since he makes a large amount of money that could be used to sign new players? Take a salary hit in order to be able to bring in some fresh talent and help this team win?
Well one thing that could happen with Sanchez considering his job uncertainty would be guaranteeing more of of his money down the road, and reducing his cap number for the current season. I believe thats what we did with Pace/Scott So it would basically GUARANTEE Sanchez is the QB of the Jets for the next 3 + years, while opening up some money in the immediate future. Now I dont know specifics for how exactly this would work, but unless the overwhelming majority of his contract is already guarenteed it should be viable. (but considering there is very little dead money for Sanchez both this and next year, it sounds like they can manipulate numbers quite a bit by guaranteeing Sanchez a ton of money)
We can all say that DK is Marks favorite target. In all reality that isnt saying much, looking at his cap hit Keller needs to go. He doesnt do one thing great, he has been nothing but average for the most part. Yes, he was in the top 10 in some catogories, but he doesnt block for shit, isnt the fatest guy and doesnt have the size. The Pats have two jerkoffs, one can do everything needed in Gronk and the other is purely a big wideout....
Tanny will figure it out, last year we all thought we had no cap room and all of a sudden had given Holmes that huge deal and were going hard after Nnamdi.
We could have brought everybody back if we wanted to. I just don't think there are any big cuts this year to free up space. Also Holmes and Cros cap #s are big. Oh and Revis may hold out again.
Why do you think he would hold out? It's certainly possible, but based on the way his contract is structured I'm not sure why he would: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/1557/the-numbers-on-revis-contract
There were reports that the Jets were $7m under the cap in August last year and everyone was anticipating a move/trade, nothing happened. So it's probable that these increases are a non-issue.
We set ourselves up good at the expense of last season, we have money to spend and good draft picks to pick from. No excuses next year.
In 2010 he told Peter King that if he was still playing at this level he would hold out again. I mean not those exact words but he hinted very strongly at it
Right and under the new CBA, the Jets can carry over cap space from last season to this season for relief.
Does it make sense to resign Devito. From the looks of it he hasnt done much except become a house hold friendly name that everyone likes because he works hard. He doesnt shed blocks well and from what i saw last year (i know he was banged up and hurt) but he was getting blown off the ball and pushed back. What do you guys think I do like the guy but is he much of a factor during a game?
why does this guarantee Keller is being traded? And I thought Devito played well. He can't change direction in space, but otherwise, I thought he did fine.
Its nice to see that Keller wasn't fishing for a bigger undeserved contract. At 3 million a year he's a good TE to hang onto.
