Oh, I thought this thread would be about years and acronyms and stuff.

I've read about this game before, probably the biggest pre-season game ever. Were those training camp jerseys with the all-white?

Mesh jerseys All the rage for warm weather games in the 70s!
Jets were one of the first teams to wear them.

That's why you see teams like the jets, dolphins, etc, with players wearing different jerseys with no sleeve stripes in some early70s games

BTW I remember this game very well

I had to stay up until 12 midnight to watch the replay

It was like Super Bowl III and 1/2

No they weren't. These ones don't have any green stripes on the arms.

Asked after the game when he felt the Jets were in control, Namath said, “The first time we got the ball.”

He was a cocky bastard back then.

Even though season tickets have been in my family since '59,
I had no interest till Broadway Joe became a Jet.
He owned NYC...and most of the pussy.

I've never seen these in any game footage until this picture. Were they ever worn in regular season games or just in camp/pre-season?

I do not recall the Jets wearing the stripe-less jerseys in a regular season game
They were always worn in pre-season

There was also a version of the jersey which they wore in pre-season
which had only the green patch on the sleeve of the white jersey without the stripes

Actually, IIRC, Suzy seemed ready to give Joe Willie a go that night.

I have no favorite 3rd game but would give honorable mention to the MNF miracle vs Miami even though in the end it meant nothing as we went down the tubes & did not win the SB that season
