W/ all the negativity swirling I thought I'd try to point out a few positive omens. -The last 2 times we swept Buffalo we won the division(1998, 2002). -The last time we were playing poorly Buffalo cured us and we went on a streak. After the awful loss to Oak we heard all week about how it was a wakeup call, blaj, blah, blah and they came out and stunk against a bad KC team. We won but we didn't play well then we started playing well the next week against Buf so let's hope this holds true again after the debacle against denver then hearing all week about how it was a wakeup call then still playing poorly at SF. A win this week, a Buf sweep and our 3rd div ttile since '98- I can't say I'm confident but I haven't given up hope either.
^^^ I haven't given up hope either, but I do get angry that the Jets always seem to find their way into these messes when it could have been simple.
adversity boys. Thats where we stand, time to prove to ourselves and the league we are back and ready to contend. We got a home game against a struggling (but incredibly hungry) bills squad. Gotta take care of bussiness on sunday get back on the right track and into hunt once more.
Unless the defense magically gets their act together and we somehow figure out why we cant throw the ball down the field...there isnt much hope.
I'm definitely in "one game at a time" mode. There are only three left, so it's easy to do. First, beat the Bills at home- they can be a difficult foe for the Jets, but it is doable. Then, comes the dreaded FOURTH trip out to the west coast, to take on a weak seattle team. Get W's in those two games, and we can brace ourselves for the showdown with the Fish.
we are the jets and we don't make things easy -- should be our motto very simple we have made the playoffs in every even year since 1998 -- why change now?
listen- Pittsburgh is rolling and starting to look like if we even won out we would have never gotten 2 seed, so 13-3/ 11-5 would have just been window dressing. I think what could be important is getting that 3 seed and playing balt at home rather then indy- manning could be tough out right now as they are rolling- also with indy on other side of ledger if some how someway we found our A game again and in the second week of AFC playoffs you had - Indy vs Tennessee and NY vs Pitt- guess what if we win and Indy beat Tennessee which I don't believe is that far fetched? We get to spoil the Manning brother reunion.
I really think our team is about matchups right now- and believe it or not if Pitt and Tennessee are the two best teams in the AFC I believe they also might be our best matchups- for pitt to play spread against us what go against everything they do and I don't think Tennessee has the depth at reciever to do it. Granted Pitt will physically beat us up (although I believe we proved we could be physical) I like our chances in pitt they don't score much there defense will continue to be aggressive which might give us the oppurtunity to spring a big one against them and close games also always bring Leon Washinigton and his ability to return kicks and win that way. Boy I guess recovery time from Sunday was two days, as I am pumped again to see this team turn it around and realize the 3 seed is still ours and as said might have been what we were destine for when we started out 1 and 2 anyway- to go 12-1 might just have been too much to ask.
I'm just glad right now we have important games with some juice left to them. I buy the seasons, prepay the parking, got a nice tailgate lined up for Sunday, I'm glad the game matters. Last year at this time I was out there cooking steaks and preparing to walk in to see if Kellen Clemens could do any better against the Chiefs than he did against the Browns. That's no way to live.
I am waiting for the real Jets to stand up and let us know who the hell they are. are they the team that looses to teams they should beat, or shows up to play against some of the good teams, but not all of them... Inconsistency breeds exactly what we have gotten since as far back as I can remember... heart break... this year is lining up to be another of those years!!!
Exactly, I am very suerstitious but, when you look for "omens" you know you are in trouble. For example, last week in a close game Frank Gore was injured. I was wow, what a lucky break for us. The biggest "OMEN" was week one. Brady goes down and we are still in a dog fight for the divison. One team has a Backup QB, the other has OUR OLD QB.
I agree with your points except there is no way the Bills are incredibly hungry. The Bills have been on a downward spiral for weeks. The good start was an aberation, they are all banged up. They have no identity at QB, and the offense can not score. Teams like that just play out the string. Unlike SF last week, who are trying new things and have a head coach that is fighting to get a job.
