I will not watch the Superbowl this year... This is not to complain or to whine about the teams in the bowl (though I admit to being pissed off), but I know that I don't care about the game nor its outcome this year. It feels like I've taken a football Valium because I am always watching football if its on, it doesn't matter whose playing. Either way, a bunch of douchebag fans will think that their lucky team (yes, both teams were very lucky today) is the greatest thing and we will hear about that shit on ESPN to no end. I don't think either team is that talented to be in the Superbowl. All I care about now is the Jets offseason and even hearing any small detail of offseason news will be more entertaining to me than watching that game. I just don't see what I will get out of watching this game other than begrudgingly rooting for the Giants and feeling like a died a little bit inside. I even thought the first Superbowl matchup between these two was exciting because the 18-0 Pats had to be stopped. Now, I could honestly care less.
Impossible for me to watch, 2 most hated things in all of sports playing in the only event that matters. Neither of which deserves to be there, I hope Eli and Brady both suffer gruesome injuries
As much as I don't want to watch, I probably will. Just don't see how I can root for either of these teams.
I'm seriously debating going to the movies instead of watching, but if i had to choose right now I'd say Pats. I can't stand the Giants right now, they're really not that good.
I like the Giants only slightly less than I like the Jets, so of course I'm thrilled. That said, even if I hated both teams, I'm still going to watch because it's the SUPER BOWL. Seriously, are you guys fans of the sport itself? I can understand turning it off if it turns into a blowout, or turning it off during the trophy presentation, etc, because I wouldn't enjoy watching a hated rival celebrating, but it's the biggest game of the year, and it's been a great game more often than not going back the last 4-5 years. The Pats and Ravens are my two most hated teams in the league. A lose-lose situation for me, but I still looked forward to watching the game, and it ended up being pretty damn good.
Why so much hatred for the Giants? Cuz of a few random bandwagon Giants fans in NYC? There's bandwagon fans in every city. I honestly don't think the majority of Giants fans have any venom towards Jets fans...most of this tension was created by Rex Ryan.
I have pretty much boycotted every SB the Pats have played in. This year will be no different. For the next few weeks I am pretending that the NFL season is over.
I actually rooted for the Giants last time, but that was more about avoiding 19-0. This year is definitely more of a meh year, although I would marginally prefer to see the Giants win. Not enough to care much, though. We always have a party with about 20 people over, and the wife likes doing that, so we will again. Don't know how much I will actually watch, though.
I'll be in and out. Mostly watching for the commercials. I think I'll skip the halftime show as I really don't wanna see a washed up cougar shake what's left of her tits and ass in front of kids who weren't born when she was relevant.
Its on very late for me so I need to make a real effort to stay up and watch it and book the day off the day after - I wont be bothering this year.
Grudgingly yes. As the Jets got knocked out of the playoffs, I found myself trying to find reasons to root for each team. For the Ravens, it was because it has a bunch of U players (and a certain awesome Rutgers guy). For the 9'ers, it was because they have sucked for so long. Doing the same thing for the Giants will be tough. I really like Cruz's story and he is a Jersey guy. However, it is still hard. My main reason is because I just never want to see New England in the playoffs ever again.
Originally my wife planned a dinner event with a few friends right at 6:30 on Super Bowl Sunday. To which I (furiously) responded absolutely no way would we be attending as the Super Bowl was on at that time. After the dust settled she relented and said she would reschedule. Now I kind of wish that she hadn't as I HAVE to watch the Super Bowl now or I'll never hear the end of it.
