Well, we know McKnight won't get cut, so I'm wondering which of these 4 stick: Woodhead, Washington, Taylor, Clowney. If like Rex says McKnight will be inactive for the immediate future, one of those 4 has to return punts. That may favor Taylor, although Woodhead was in once last night in that role. McKnight let two punts get downed inside the five, another reason besides the fumbling problem that well keep him off the field. Do they finally let Woodhead return punts? He has the speed, but can't break tackles. Is there another player out there that could push more than one of these 4 off the team? I believe both Taylor and Washington are PS eligible. Neither are a sure bet to clear waivers. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/09/jets_lose_confidence_in_rookie.html Ryan said RB Danny Woodhead (12 rushes, 45 yards, one touchdown, one reception for 10 yards) has all but cemented a roster spot. The coach also was impressed by NT Matt Kroul (team-high 5 tackles, two sacks), DL Martin Tevaseu, DB Brian Jackson and DB Emmanuel Cook. The coach was noncommittal on WRs David Clowney and Larry Taylor, and said LB Josh Mauga and S Donovan Warren, who both have been out with concussions, likely will not make the team. It sounds like Washington, Taylor and Clowney will battle for the remaining specialist roster spot. Of those three, I am hoping Washington wins. He is the better ST's player and can fill in on offense and gives us some depth at RB. The problem then, is who returns punts? Westoff likes Taylor, so that may save him. How do you see the final cuts?
this is the first year...where Clowney hasn't been a superstar in the preseason. He gets shown the curb finally.
I think Clowney is our replacement player for 1 week before we bring Coles back. I don't think we keep 5 receivers prior to Holmes' return. Washington hits the PS, Woodhead makes the roster.
Why risk losing Washington when Clowney will get cut anyway? If the Jets go with Woodhead as a return man, Taylor goes to the PS, and I think he has a much better chancer of clearing waivers than Washington does. Taylor is pretty one dimensional. Woodhead could be the 4th WR until Holmes returns.
If it truely is between the 4 mentioned to fill 3 roster spots Clowney has to be the odd man out. He's been a waste of a roster spot his whole Jets career and there's no way I cut any of the other 3 before him, especially Washington, who if he goes to the practice squad i'm sure some other team jumps on him.
I guess it comes down to Clowney vs. Washington now. I think Washington is the more versatile of the two.
Add Mauga and Warren to that list- both suffering concussion issues For up to minute cuts check here http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/09/jets-in-process-of-trimming-ro.html
I was going to say, Clowney would be the first one gone in that list first and foremost, followed by Little Guy Taylor (who I rooted for). I would like to keep Woodhead and Washington with Washington making the roster and Woodhead going on the PS.
I just don't get it? If this kid inspired any confidence from the CS/FO then why bring in Coles and talk about needing someone to fill the void during Holmes' suspension? There's no question Clowns got talent it just hasn't translated to the playing field. All I can say is PLEASE KEEP WASHINGTON ON THIS TEAM!!!
I think Buttle ahd it pretty much right except for Reamer - my guess is: Sanchez, brunell, Clemens LT, Greene, McKnight, Washington, Woodhead TRich, Conner Braylon, Cotch, Smith, Clown Keller, Hatsock, Mulligan, Cumberland Brick, Slauson, Nick, Meat, Woody, Turner, Vlad, Hunter Jenx, Ellis, DeVito, Pouha, Kroul, Vernon Thomas, Pace, Harris, BArt, Cummings, Laury, J.
