IF the patriots dont keep up there successful ways this season after this whole spygate debacle than it only confirms that the fabled patriot coaching tree is a joke... Weiss on his way to 0-3 and looks absolutely terrible without willigham's players... Crennel's record speaks for itself.. And bellichek is now a proven cheater so i dont understand how anyone can look at any of these guys and call them "GREATEST STAFF" of all times b.s.... and for those who will criticize, this mandate applies to mangini as well, The onus is on him to shut the critics up and be a good coach... If he flounders, he'll be just another rotten apple from the dying patriots coaching tree

I thought the Bill Walsh Coaching tree was the Greatest Staff of all time.

Also, isn't it the Bill Parcells coaching tree?

The media does try to pretend that it is Belichick's tree and act like he is the reason Parcells ever won anything.

Romeo Crennel? Jesus Christ himself couldn't coach that team to the playoffs. I think it is a little early to judge Crennel.

No, I'm telling you Jesus couldn't coach the Browns to a winning record. Turning water into wine and walking on water is easy. Coaching the Browns to a playoff run? Now THAT would be a miracle!

2002 they made the playoffs at 9-7.

in 96, after the announcement they lost 6 consecutive games.

before 2002, they last made the playoffs in 94, and beat the Parcells Patriots in the first round, and lose to the Steelers.

It's part of the Bill Parcells coaching tree. Tom Coughlin is another branch and Al Groh is a branch also, although not really an NFL branch.

Parcells New England assistants largely followed him to the Jets so he really only has the three branches at this point.

Holmgren was originally part of the Walsh coaching tree, along with Bruce Coslet and Pete Carroll. When we hired Coslet in 1990, Holmgren was an outside candidate but the feeling at the time was he was too young and needed a couple more years. He got the Green Bay job in 1992. Similar to Mangini when he got him except this time we took the chance.

Considering he was an assistant with Belichick in Cleveland, Nick Saban would also probably qualify as part of the Parcells coaching tree.

I think it's iffy to include coaches of coaches in the tree, unless the second coach is really close to the first one.

I'd take coaches of Coughlins and Grohs in the tree but probably not coaches of Belichik. He hates Parcells even though he says good things in public about him.

Belichik hates Parcells who was his mentor and Mangini who was his student. my guess is it's Belichik's issue not theirs. Mangini isn't going to contribute any coaches to Belichik's tree, just himself.

It's year 3 and they haven't shown sny improvement. There's a reason no one hired Crennell in the 25 years or so that he was an ass't.
