So, do we have a new feature back?

I know it may still be a little too early to see, but for his first start against one of the best run defenses in the league, Leon did a solid job.

I would like to see him get the ball just as often against the Phins, just to see if he can be at least that effective against a normal (or sub-normal) defense.

Also, do you all think that we may still need a "big time/big name" back in the draft in '07? I think that we're in good hands.

I think that when Houston is back he and Leon should rotate while our two overpaid depth backs play situational roles.

Agree. Let Barlow be the goal line back, he seems to have a nose for the goal line (to use a cliche). However, what situation are you envisioning Blaylock in? Scout team?

Totally scout team. Or he could just give tap dancing lessons.

The man's compass has no north and south, just east and west.

Barlow acts like there's money on the goal line when he's inside the 15. And there probably is.

Is the running back by committee approach a long term solution, or do you all think that one back has to take the job by the horns so that the offense has an identity?

No, I wouldn't say we have a new feature back. I'd say we have another 3rd down back in Washington. We have no RB right now that is capable of being a feature back.

i was wrong...neon leon needs to start and be the featured back...i was worried about the wear and tear on his body, but it's clear we need the best guy in there, and that is washington

Barlow isn't that bad for goal line and short yardage, but otherwise, you're right. He is overpaid and horrible for any other use. He looks so lost running. A lot of it has to do with the OL, then you'll see runs like his 2nd TD vs INDY last week - he gets hit at the LOS, and just destroys the linebacker (or was it a safety?) and rumbles for five more and the TD.

Leon Washington should be the feature back by default.

I'm not saying he has impressed me or dissapointed me, but I do know that he hits the holes harder then any of our other RB's (excluding Houston, who we haven't seen enough of this season). Barlow and Blaylock have been inconsistent to say the least.

So, yes, I think and hope that we have a new 'feature' back. Houston/Washington over the other two, definately.

For a little guy he runs ridiculously strong. and he hit holes fast and hard. I dont know if he'll be good injury wise cause its obviously to early to tell, but if we start blockin for him, he might be great

He reminds me a little of another FSU alum - Warrick Dunn. I think he should definitely start for the rest of the season but we still need a RB in the 1st 2 rounds.

Maybe a RB is not a 1st round need anymore since we have other needs like a speed OLB, playmaker at DB, another OLB, Guards, etc...

I'd start him, although he got most of his yards in the proverbial "garbage time." Kill Barlow and Blaylock...

He's earned a couple starts. I won't go that much further than that quite yet, but he can start a few weeks.

    I agree.

They should draft a RB on day 1 of the draft and they probably will do so. However, I'm on the draft a defensive lineman in the 1st round bandwagon.

J-Ville's garbage time D-line is as good as most bad teams starting D-lines; more importantly, with the garbage blocking that was going on, he made the most out of his opportunity regardless of the garbage time.

I still like Houston as a starter, but Leon is ready for a bigger role.

To that end, what do you think about Marcus Thomas, DT for the University of Florida?? The consensus thus far is that he is by far the best D-Lineman in college right now; after his game against LSU yesterday, it's true.

For the record, that is another one of "My Guys" hahaha. Like Leon, I'm very good friends with Marcus Thomas as well. You all will be very familiar with him around draft time if you are not right now.
