Are the all the rumors about Fergueson, Williams, Davis, "player of the day" just a smokescreen so that the Packers don't trade up ahead of the Jets to get Hawk? It just seems like his name is one we haven't heard in rumors very often, and he seems like the kind of guy Mangini would absolutely love to have.

Maybe, but I think the reason we don't seem into him is that he's not a great fit in a 3-4, he's much better off in a 4-3 where he can go sideline-to-sideline to make tackles. Carpenter would be a better fit for a 3-4 than Hawk.

A LB with good instincts that runs a 4.38 40, fits any defense!

What ??? I love Carpenter as well, but A.J. Hawk can play any LB position in any scheme. Write it down....

Again, we are not necessarilly running a 3-4, we are running the system which gives us the best chance to win.

I'm so tired of hearing people say "Mario Williams can't play the 3-4" and "A.J. Hawk can't play the 3-4" ... It's complete BS. These guys have the tools and skills necessary to play in any scheme.

I would love AJ Hawk. Our LB core would be our strength. Just look at the Bears and Ravens of past years, but were good teams that relied on their defense, but more specifically their linebackers

I think that "smokescreen" has become the buzzword of the draft. Have you ever considered that nobody's talking about drafting Hawk because we aren't going to draft Hawk?

If somebody wants to trade over us to take Hawk it probably drops Mario in our laps. I don't think we really need to worry about someone trading over us to snap up Hawk.
