Freddie Barnes, WR, Bowling Green (6'0 210)

If you don't know about this kid yet, you will after Sportscenter tonight.

Freddie Barnes is a record setting receiver - tonight in the Humanitarian Bowl, Barnes crushed the single season reception record. He came into the game 138 catches and he needed four to tie it. At the end of the game, Barnes had 17 catches for 219 yards and 3 TDs. It's not like he's a one game wonder either - he's done it all year long.

I've watched him a few times this season, mainly the see how Bowling Green's QB Tyler Sheehan looks as a quarterback prospect. Barnes has always stood out.

Besides USC's Damian Williams, he's is the best route runner in college football. With a mediocre 40 time (4.62), Barnes needs to run perfect routes to get open...he's always open.

Due to a slowish 40 time and lack of elite height, Barnes could fall into the 3rd or 4th round.

    FINAL SEASON STATS:

155 catches for 1,770 yards and 19 TDs.

    Good post!!!.....+1

Here in Ohio, I've seen alot of Barnes. Has been a force and is the leading receiver in the nation.

All I can say is "WOW"!!! What a performance. How could anyone not love watching College Football???

This bowl game has put Freddie on the map for a mid Round pick.

With any luck some team could draft Barnes at the end of Round 2 and most certainly Round 3. If Barnes ran 4.3-4.4, he would be a 1st Rd pick.

His performance reminds me of Hakeem Nicks (Nicks was more talented) last year....stock rising from an impressive national game.

What a great game in Boise, so far the best Bowl Game this year.

Iupati was a force, I really keyed on his play and he dominates.

That was one hell of a performance yesterday and a fantastic game as well. It was amazing how wide open he was, you would think after 10 first half receptions the D would start to pay attention to him.

Practically a clone of Jerricho Cotchery.

He is not a deep threat in my opinion.... He is not fast and doesnt play aggressive like a guy his height should.. If your 6'5 and a DB is 5'10 5'11 you should own them almost every play. Vincent Jackson is a example of a physical tall receiver

He is fast and he plays very aggressive...and he is not 6'5 he is 6'3.

Are we thinking of the same guy? Braylon Edwards is definitely a deep threat.

Edwards has had his ups and downs but if you are calling him not physical I don't think you have watched a Jets game this year.

Okay he is 6'3 but the point being is if your that tall you should own the field and if he is a deep threat how come double teamed the whole game? Teams are not like owe here come Braylon Edwards and the New York Jets

If you are tall you should own the field? This post makes no sense at all I am not even going to argue any more.

Seriously dude? Just because he's tall he should have 110 catches and 1500 yards or something?

Do you realize we have a rookie QB throwing him the ball, who isn't exactly Peyton Manning?

I know the QB has a big play in him getting the ball... But sometimes you cant blame the QB you have to catch everything in you general area. can you think of a game where he single handedly changed the outcome for us?

no WR could truly change the outcome of a game when his QB is averaging like 180 yards passing a game. How on earth is he supposed to average 80 yards and a TD a game like the elite receivers do? The only way it works that way is if Sanchez throws to Edwards every play. Yes Edwards has had some drops, but he has been great for us.

He changed the Miami games in our favor. He was a monster in his first game for us, had our defense not folded like a cheap suit that night people would think very differently of Edwards as a Jet.

In his first game, Edwards scored a TD and made a ridiculous catch that set up a 1 yard TD run on Monday Night Football against the Fins.

The defense couldn't hold at the end of the game and the Jets lost.

We need a slot receiver that runs excellent routes and gets open over the middle of the field.
