... he specifically noted the interview with eric mangini & the jets ... he said that he walked into a room & was introduced to mangini and met 5 other people (assistants, etc.) ... once they sat down and he was ready to start dissecting film & and get into plays and stuff that the first thing mangini wanted from him was to recite back the names of the people that he had just met ... I like that about him
I heard the interview as well. The 2nd interviewer by the way is Jim Miller. He mentioned that he can play both OG and OT, whatever the teams needs. Personally if we can't get a top notch DL in the 1st, I would be very much in favor of selecting Blaylock. I think he could slide into RT nicely. How about D'Brick and Blaylock as the JETS bookends for the next 10 years? We can still get a good CB in the 2nd round if we pass on one in the 1st, IMO.
I think that Blalock is best suited for RG in the NFL. He could probably be a decent RT, but i believe that he could be a monster at guard.
Blalock isnt tall or athletic enough to play OT. W/ that said i'd LOVE to add him at # 25 as RG to really give our OL a true Mauler. he'd be absolutely ideal at #25.
I hear ya on him being better suited as OG, I was just hoping/wondering if he could play OT. I'd still love to have him to replace Moore.
We're most likely looking to take BPA at # 25.Meachem and Blaylock could both fall into that category and both would fill a need.
he's been my choice for a long time. I dont care if we take o-line first round every single year, that's how you build a dynasty. the 1990s Cowboys did that. Personally I think he would be a real good RT, but if you guys think he's a better guard thats fine. D'Brick - Kendall - Mangold- Blaylock - Clement? (can you say run-right all day!!!) Or D'Brick - Kendall - Mangold - Moore - Blaylock both of which are pretty nasty o-lines. We need a beast run blocker to complete the line, and he is the type.
Same here. My main beef about him going out as out bRT was that he really didn't perform much at the senior bowl when trying to raise his stock as a tackle. The guy's gonna be a monster at guard, however, and I'd love to have him plowing the way for Leon and Jones next season.
If Meachum & Blaylock are on the board, I'm taking Meachum without thinking about it. I'm not all that crazy with Blaylock & the idea of drafting another first round OLineman. There is quality depth on the OL this year..
Here's to hoping he's our choice at #25. I'd stick him at RG for sure, and draft the RT from Boston College, James Marten in the 3rd. I'd still keep Moore and Jones to fight over backup positions, and Clement would no longer be in the picture. Marten is a little raw still at RT, as he he played multiple OL positions in college (not totally a negative), but if he turned out OK our OL would be set for many many years. I'm willing to take a chance on a 6'8 320 pounder.
I would be very disappointed if we took a WR in the 1st round. Surely there will be good value at OL, DL, or CB positions. We gave a 2nd rounder for McCareins, we may as well stick him at #3. Let's fix both lines before we think about any more skill positions.
I can't think of any reason we should take anything other then lineman early in the draft until we can actually run the ball and stop the run. I'll be so pissed if we draft some cornerback when the right side of our offensive line is awful and we have no nose tackle.
I wouldn't mind seeing us take a CB in round 2, but definitely not round 1. I'm still holding out hope that we can get a stud OL or DL/OLB with #25.
