Simms wants out of Tampa Bay
    Posted: Wednesday June 11, 2008 07:07AM ET
Chris Simms says his relationship with Jon Gruden is beyond repair and has been told he will not be with the Buccaneers in 2008. But with no trade on the horizon, the Bucs' forgotten quarterback wants to be released immediately, bringing an end to his career in Tampa Bay that seemed inevitable after missing nearly two seasons following surgery to remove his spleen.

I think he's worth a flier, though the Jets seem stacked now with Penny, Clemens, Ainge and Ratliff.

People want to dump Chad for a repaired shoulder. Simms was on the border of life and death not long ago.

No. I'm as uninterested as I am to see Mangini naked.

Pass, don't see whats so special about the guy in the first place....He'll end up in Miami if/when they cut him.

Simms' spleen was removed after a game. That has nothing to do with him being a good or a bad quarterback.

Pennington's repaired shoulder is a huge problem for a guy that plays a position in which the player's arm strength is one of the top factors.

Simms can throw, and throw hard. He's been up and down throughout his short career, but he deserves a chance somewhere.

I have to say no to Simms. He still has a chance to revive his career in my opinion, just not with the Jets.

I'd rather have a long term repair than another short term patch.

Simms showed a lot of potential before his spleen injury and hasn't really had a shot to play since then. If he's fully recovered from that, I'd like to bring him in. He is still young and could compete for the starting spot at QB.

Simms would be a great addition to the team.

Actually, Simms has admitted that it has affected his throwing motion, why do you think They cut him. Hes done and hell be brought in by a team for a tryout and promptly cut.

No way. From all accounts, Ratliff has really started to develop, and he is someone we should not lose. To be honest, we should trade Pennington to KC, and go with Clemens, Ratliff and Ainge as our QBs. Keeping Pennington is a mistake, and Simms has not shown anything.

He wasn't cut. He's requesting a trade or a release because Jon Gruden is a dick.

Jeff Garcia is the starter in Tampa, and they are going to miss Simms if Garcia goes down.

for the longest time i said i wouldnt want him, but now for some reason i would take him, if chad goes down like he usally does, and clemens stinks up the place, it would be nice to have an ex starter waiting on the bench

I'm with you Mr E. The kid did have IT and I'm sure he will again. Bring him into camp and see what he can do, give him a medical, talk to him...its only a number of ways t find out if hes better than the banana spits we already have.
None of the Jets Qbs fill me with one ounce of optimism, just hope. Because of that I'm willing to clutch at straws

if we can get him on the cheap then why the hell not. that statement about his throwing motion being changed is a big concern, but it cant be any worse than chad's ducks
