Let this guy walk already, and lets move on. It amazes me how some people in this forum defend this guy to death. HE'S STEALING MONEY, HE SUCKS, HE CAN'T THROW, HE SUCKS AGAINST ELITE TEAMS, HE'S ALWAYS INJURED......ALWAYS. I'm sick of hearing intensity this, leadership that, good guy this, team player that. People, please wake up! THE MAN THROWS DUCKS and has a NOODLE ARM The last time I checked, those weren't characteristics of a winning QB. Has something changed???? Because if it has, I'd really like someone to explain that to me.
Not as lame as the prospects of Pennington as our QB. Lets see, how lame would it be when he tears up a knee next year in say, the fifth game, and he's out for the season... AGAIN. I guess we'll just praise his leadership skills and heart again...right
Auy, can't ya just leave the friggin' guy alone? Good for you, go have a rant. That's what freakin' blogs are for. This thread is pointless, except to say how much you hate Chad. Pointless.
I don't hate, but I just can't bare to watch this guy go through another season as our QB. Its painfull
I agree. I think Chad was awesome at 100%. But 100% was like 2 seasons. He never had an arm, but he was still pretty damn good. Now he'll probably just suck, but there's no reason to rank on him like this, he did all he could for this franchise, everything else was just out of his control.
HAHAHA! I love Penny. He is doing the perfectly fair and smart thing. Stealing money? This is the greatest part of sports. How if a player doesn't play to the low contract he outperforms he's an ass, and should honor his contract. yet the team shoulndn't? OMG- Penny should take a pay cut, he's stealing. This is exactly why there are signing bonuses to protect a player incase he gets injured. GO PENNY GO! MILK THE JETS FOR ALL THEIR WORTH!! (.... better than Brad Johnson.... lol)
Hey bud, do me a favor. When you get it into your mind to make another Chad Pennington thread, hold your breath for 10 minutes instead.
Well, my solution to this, is not to post anymore rants about Chad. Afterall, its not like I can control whether he's behind center in Sept anyway.
The man has played at least 3/4 of games in 2 seasons and both times we went to the div rd, he has missed at least 6 games in 2 of the last 4 seasons and both times we had horrible years.
This is the week we find out about Pennington's future. Sit back and wait for some breaking news out of Indianapolis, basically... Jets | Pennington fate to be decided this week Mon, 20 Feb 2006 06:24:39 -0800 Mark Cannizzaro, of the New York Post, reports the New York Jets will decide the fate of QB Chad Pennington this week in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine when they meet with his agent, Tom Condon. These surely are not the best of times for Pennington, who within the next week will either be re-signed to a new salary-reduced contract to allow him to remain with the Jets or he'll be released, thus becoming a free agent in a world where it'll be difficult to find a better chance to regain a starting job than with the Jets. It's not surprising that Condon would turn down the Jets' initial request for Pennington to play for a $1 million base in 2006 and then have the chance to earn the other $8 million in incentives. Because of the uncertainty of Pennington's health status and the fact that the Jets will be bringing in a starting-caliber quarterback to compete for the job, that would be bank-account suicide for Pennington.
What he is saying if you have the ability to read between the lines is that so called fans here get more caught up in liking a player then determining if he a asset to the team by producing for the team
Again, if Pennington is so confident he can come back and play at the level that got him this contract in the first place, then what's the problem? Why should the Jets take all the risk here? Sorry, but loyalty contracts just aren't in style anymore. I think Chrebet, Martin, Testaverde and Lewis wore those out. Chad already has $22million in hand. There's absolutely NO reason why the Jets should budge on this issue. Chad was not worth over $1mil per start. Not even back in '02 which was his best year before the league caught up with him. Chad isn't in a real good bargaining position here. If he thinks he is, I hope he invested his $22million wisely..
