Yesterday I had to take my wife to the MD. Naturally while I was waiting for her there I picked up a magazine which happen to be the SI issue from 12/04/06. Inside the publications that wizard of wizard Dr Z had a article & I will quote below his remarks about us in that article What to Like: Rookie Coach EM has inspired a limited team to reach for the POs. What NOT to Like: Motivation can't make up for all the Jets Deficiencies. The attack lacks playmakers & the defense doesn't have the right personnel to effectively run the 3-4 employed by EM & DC Sutton What to Expect. While the remaining schedule is looks easy the Jets are to young & inconsistent to get to the post season. This just solidifies why I save money by not buying these silly publications

that is a perfectly acceptable prediction at the time it was written.. The article was in the 12/04/06 edition, which means it went to press at some point in November.. How many of us Jets fans really thought in Nov that the Jets would be playing a win & in game the last weekend of the season?
You mean it would not be written on 12/03/06? Do you work for a magazine so you can say with authority what the lead time is. At the time of the article he said our record was 6-5 & now we are 9-6 if that will assist your detective work
I have done alot of work for magazines, every magazine will have a different deadline as far as going to press. We were 6-5 after the 11/26/06 game against Houston. I would think it went to press shortly after that. Still at 6-5, is it really unacceptable for an analyst not to believe the Jets were gonna make the postseason? I am usually pretty optimistic but I didn't honestly believe at that time they would be in the postseason..
Sounds right to me if we were 6-5 on 11/26/06 which means he wrote it after that Sunday when we became 6-5 & the following Sunday which was not incuded in his article.

the lead time for SI is a full week. most people in the US who subscribe get it 5 days or so before the listed date.
Champ, I have chosen not to respond to your posts for sometime now (since we debated at nauseum about Herm, Woody, SB, "success"...i.e. the "usual" Champ debate some time ago...probably a year or two). However, since there has been some inkling of a less-salty Champ of late, I thought I would respond to this one. It is the way you say things that many people take umbrage with you. From many of your posts it seems like your only intent is to antagonize and create an argument. Above, someone made a general post about when the article was most likely written and you respond in a negative tone demanding detailed proof and questioning the validity of his statements. I understand it is a messageboard, I understand facts trump all else, but antagonizing people in the way you do and then trying to defend yourself with the rhetoric of an innocent bystander is unecesary and invites criticism.

I will back you up Champ, I took no issue at all with the way you responded to my post. I could possibly see how someone might have an issue if they didn't know your posting style but that is there problem if they are gonna get worked up about a response on a MB.
Reread my post, it not necessarily about what you are asking, but how you say things and repond to people in a way that is meant purely to antagonize them.
