The saves stat first off didn't count for a long time, so that fact is overrated and secondly pitchers nowadays is babied so closers back then if they were even used went like 3 innings a game
Because he has played Boston when???? Compare: 413 saves ( Avg. 34.42/year) 2.29 career era 1.04 WHIP 783 K 55 Blown Saves 482 saves ( AVG. 34.43/year) 2.71 career era 1.04 WHIP 56 blown saves
Shouldn't you still be in hiding? you post some of the most idiotic stuff. Rivera dominated Boston in the '99 and '03 LCS' and he had 1 hiccup in '04(he 2nd "blown save" he did an incredible job to get out of it w/ the game tied). In almost 20 innings of postseason baseball against Boston he has a .91 ERA. By the way, Trevor Hoffman BLEW Game 3 of the 1998 WS and his postseason ERA is 3.75 compared to River's .81. Mariano has pitched 111 2/3 innings in postseason and given up just 10 runs, hoffman has pitched 12 innings and given up 5. I'm guessing you'll tell us john franco should be ahead of mariano since he has mroe saves
Hoffman is like an Elvis Grbac or a Daunte Culpepper type of guy. He'll consistently put up good numbers and then suck in big spots.
Ehh A Rod does not belong on that list yet.... it's just another way the media gets down on their knees with this guy. he is the Peyon manning, Charles Barkley of his sport. Great numbers but do something when the games are meaningful. Yes I know it's not Barkley's fault he played in the same era as Michael Jordan. Aside from that I think I'd put Roy Campanella somewhere and I'm glad they didn't omit the greatest thid baseman ever to play the game Michael Jack Schmidt
