So now that the season is coming to a wind down... Do you think we still should keep BE around next year? I say we cut ties with him after the season yeah it cost us some picks but we got the short end of the stick.. I think we were better off with Stuckey, Trusnik and our draft picks. Though stuck was not as tall as Edwards he was a harder working player who got open and caught the ball when he was open. Okay Miami game wide open misses the catch yeah blame it on the lights LOL but this game wide open in the endzone during a day game ball smacks him dead off his chest and hits the fall. I already know what his problem is he doesnt look the ball all the way into his hands. These are things they teach you in pee wee football. Maybe he should get his vision checked out and its not even meant to be a joke. When the game is on the line we cant miss opportunities like that to score on such easy plays. The Colts and SD are high powered offenses and we need to capitalize on every possession. That being sad we should look into Brandon Marshall trade BE there because they need a receiver if we get BM and maybe a future draft pick not a number 1 of course.. One last thing People say BE is such a good blocker... Yes this maybe so but he is a WR not a O linemen we brought him here to catch the ball...
Maybe i'm incorrect, but i believe marshall was the only receiver that actually dropped more than Edwards last year
heard on 1050 that the league is looking into a one game suspension for edwards NEXT year, due to his no contest plea also, big kris kenks is on the herd
You don't trade away picks and players for a guy and let him go at the end of the season unless your name is Al Davis. Edwards is a very important player in this offense, regardless of whether he drops balls.
I say yes because while he drops the easy ones, which is still ridiculous, he somehow manages to catch impossible balls in traffic. Go figure. He gets open. He is tall and stretches the field. I say keep him around. Some OC's might gamble underneath on him dropping balls but that's just stupid. Remember Cotch is a #1 as well. You can always switch #1 with #2. Might make him play better.
To me you cant let him walk after giving up two draft picks for him. If he still thinks he deserves the kind of money he was asking for before the season started with the Browns he is out of his mind. He has said he likes playing here so we will see just how much he likes it when him and Tanny start talking $$$$.
Agreed. He still demands attention in the secondary. As long as they don't sign him for elite WR money. Upper-middle of the road contract with major incentives, especially drop percentage. Also, incentives for team success. I know it's complicated, but if a team could somehow manage to have major personal incentives for team success; wins, playoffs, how deep, superbowl, you'll have a better chance at getting everyone on the same page.
I say we will never be the king of the East with the pats if we dont have players that scare them from the WR position...
As frustrating as it seems, he brings alot to the table...He def drops some big catches but he opens up the field for Cocth and Keller to do their thing, His size is very useful for our ground game..I think with a full off-season with Sanchez he will definitely get more comfortable catching his passes.. I say re-sign him to a contract that doesn't break the bank
Very True but watch as next year rolls around they will still have NE as the favorite to win the division
I would say about 93% chance, so there's at least a little reason. Who cares? Sanchez will have a full year and offseason under his belt and should be much better. We get Jenkins and Washington back, and everyone should know the defense inside and out. We have a chance to be dominant next season.
He will be an RFA this year if there is no new CBA, so we can slap a relatively cheap one year tender on him to have him prove his worth. If another team wants to give up a first rounder (the tener we will probably put on him) then I'd probably let him go.
Edwards isn't my favorite player (many know this about me) but even I think it's crazy to think about getting rid of him for nothing. He's important to this team right now in what we're asking him to do. We're a run-first offense. If that changes, I'm sure Edwards' flaws will be magnified and the FO will act accordingly, but for now, he's valuable.
Might as well keep him...he'll end up a pretty good player here and even with the drops the offense has played better with him here. That said, if he's not a Jet in 2010 and we've drafted a talented WR or two...then thanks Braylon Edwards for that short time here. Good player with ridiculous upside, but he's too inconsistent for me to be definitive on...I do think he's a good dude that can handle playing in NYC...maybe long term the drops arent' as big an issue.
This! Overall I think the Browns gained more than us on this trade... but since everything is said and done we should re-sign Edwards for sure. The problem is, how much money will he want? I think this year, since he is restricted, we should make him available to any team willing to give us a 1st rd pick in exchange of Braylon... I think that's a 4 mill tag or something...
