The Saints just released one of the better pass rushers in the NFL (22 sacks last 2 years) for being a turd. Should we go after him? I'm hoping we don't but who knows. He trashed the Saints (OLB's) after he got cut, he sounds like a headcase. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13313271/new-orleans-saints-release-linebacker-junior-galette
Should we? Heck no! We should sign Mo to a huge deal instead and worry about a position of need. We are running a 3-4, so when Sheldon Comes back in Week 6: Sheldon Richardson Muhammed Wilkerson Leonard Williams Damon Harrison Junior Gallete In a 3-4, paying this many studs is a waste of money. Not to mention Gallete's offseason troubles. That being said, in a world where CAP doesn't exist, I am fantasizing about the possibility of our D line after signing Gallete. However, this isn't that world
I wouldn't worry too much about the financial side. Offer him a 1 year ~5 mil. deal and get rid of Babin, Pace, Reilly. That pretty much evens it out again. I just don't want the guy here period even though he's a good player. Similar to the Hardy situation.
Junior Gallete is a 3-4 OLB, not a 3-4 DE. I doubt we get look into it - rather see what we have in IK / Mauldin / Coples.
That's not entirely true. He is primarily OLB but he's lined up as a DE many time. His value comes in pass rush.
I think you are observing Junior when they are running a 4 man front. 4-3 DE translates to a 3-4 OLB; depending on the scheme; yes his hands would be in the dirt. Not the same scheme though
What do you care if there is? What I don't understand and like is posters like you trying to act like censors, and discourage people from posting. If you don't want to read their posts, or a thread, skip it and read those you do.
The Saints took a big cap hit to release Galette after he had 10 sacks for them last season and 12 in 2013. Dealing with the Devil just gets you burnt eventually.
I agree. David Harris, Demario Davis, and Quentin Coples have been very professional off the field. Mauldin also looks like he will be a very likable and non-problematic player off the field. There's no reason to disrupt the chemistry of the LB corp and sign Galette to a big deal that they could regret. There's enough to work with in the LB corp and next year they will probably draft an OLB high to replace old man Pace.
You just have to wonder when NFL players will realize you simply can't hit women. It's amazing the amount of domestic violence provlems the league faces each year.
Linebackers are born not made. Then you add in roid rage and the culture of violence around the NFL and it's like a guarantee that some of the guys you want to act like mad dogs on the field will be doing that off the field as well.
There's your look. I don't expect all players to be angels but I also don't want a complete asshole on the team.
Lol the media reached out to Galette for comment on his release and he just sent them a video of himself working out really angrily.
