Lack of player development, stupid signings and contract extensions, lack of depth in the depth chart... and that's just some of his football mismanaging skills.
Its not so much a question of whether he should be fired. He's not a personnel guy. The experiment of the past few years did not work. Its time to bring in someone who can do a better job in this area. I can even see a restructuring of the FO, with Tannenbaum taking on more of a Steve Gutmann role.
Are you guys for real? A team loses the best defensive player in the league, and their best offensive player...and every hands player...and stays close to 500 and the GM needs to go? Really?
That sums it up pretty well. It overpaid a lot for the Sanchez, David Harris, Santonio Holmes latest contracts. . Not to mention what he paid for Pace, Scott, or even Eric Smith. I think his contract was three or four million a year. And then he even dared going after Asoumugha. He was willing to pay a ransom for him. And then he wanted Manning too.
I can give you a list of reasons why he should be fired but I can't come up with the list to keep him it is very short . We went to the two championship games and instead of building off of that to become an NFL super power he let the team regress worse and worse every season particulary on the offensive side of the ball. Leaving Sanchez with no weapons not enough skilled running backs ,Holes in the offensive line that he tried to fix with Austin Howard , It was like your roof was leaking and you put a bucket under the hole but after awile that bucket is gonna get filled up and spill over and thats what has happend here. Stephen Hill has been a dissapointment so far,Sanchez looks worse then he is ever looked in his football carrer. The mismanagement of Tim Tebow has been a disaster and makes you wonder why we traded for him in the first place. Hiring Tony Sparano was another bone headed move , He has been a joke all season long and deserves alot of the blame for the offense. Atleast under Shotty Sanchez was productive at times. The offense being ignored and mishandled the way it has been is enough to get Mr.T fired twice. Zero depth No playmakers,No skilled running backs,Awful playcalling,Bringing in Tebow to look over Sanchez shoulder for no reason ruined both QB's. Sanchez was clearly bothered by Tebow ,If your an NFL GM why would you want to sabatoge your own QB???? None of the things MR.T has done have helped this team they have lead to us being the laughing stock of the NFL.
No he's not joking. There's always a few of these types. Fans who are willing to go down with a sinking ship because to them, it means they are true fans and we are not. Whatever. But that's what they believe.
You should edit the post for a poll or ask a mod to throw a poll on. Would be nice to compare this to the Keep/Fire Rex poll
Last year, he promised it was Schotty's fault. This year he says itsnot the QB, its not the HC and its not the GM. Can it be that this WHOLE shitpile of a team is Sparano's fault? Bwahhahaha
Stop using this excuse. Every team in the NFL suffers from significant if not devestating injuries every year. Good (keyword) teams prepare for this by stockpiling as much depth as they can and finding ways to perservere. We have failed to not only build depth, but to replace glaring holes in our system. It is NOT an excuse for losing. For Christ sake the GB Packers won the Super Bowl with 16 players on IR including all their LB's except Matthews, half of the secondary, their starting RB, and TE who was the teams leading receiver at the time.
If to Tanny continues to make personnel decisions (and even big contract decisions), this team will never be a contender. So, in a word, yes.
I posted this in the other thread, but it fits here as well...- Some major flaws off the top of my head that should be more than enough to give reason to firing Tanny- - The contracts- Harris is getting paid like he's Patrick Willis. He's good, but not great and not a gamechanger. He doesnt deserve that much. Scott's contract, Pace's contract, Holmes' contract are all garbage. He gave a #2 WR the most guaranteed money a WR has ever seen. He guaranteed the back ends of Scott's and Pace's contracts to make room for the great Nnamdi... If it wasnt for the retarded Rams, we would be paying 4 million to Wayne Hunter. Last but certainly not least, the Sanchez contract that has crippled us. - Poor drafting- Sanchez, Greene, Keller, Gholston, Kyle Wilson, Vlad, and the endless mid-late draft picks that arent on this team. Aside from Wilkerson and Kerley (excluding this year), the recent drafts havent lived p to what we have hoped. - Horrible depth/drop off in talent- Tanny has given away two players for one, or two drafts picks for one, or a draft pick for a rental player countless times. It has certainly screwed our depth which is why the injury to Holmes (who isnt even that good) hurt us so badly. He's traded up in the draft numerous times, blowing multiple picks at a time and causing us to have BY FAR the least amount of players drafted since he's been here. During the offseason he let out horrible OL depth, WR depth and RB depth go completely untouched. - Inability to develop a franchise QB- As Trent Dilfer has said 'if you want to right a book about how not to develop a young QB, you can just title it "Jets"'. This is sadly true. Sanchez did show a lot of promise his first two years and Tanny let the offensive talent around Sanchez drop off completely before his eyes. Whether it be a revolving door at receiver, drop off of offensive linemen or change in the RB's, Sanchez never saw consistency around him and the talent declined. - No clear plan- How many times have we seen Tanny just try and make a huge splash move, a big signing, or a huge trade? I dont anyone can say that this team has a clear plan on where they want to be and especially how they are going to get there. You see teams like the 49ers and the Packers and even the Seahawks now and you can just tell they have a plan as a front office and are executing it well. This team has struggled to find its identity and has no clear plan. - He simply isnt a "football guy"- He is a cap guy. He doesnt have a great knowledge of football and this is one of my biggest pet-peeves. Even though he is considered a cap guy, he still manages to mess up huge contracts. - Tebow- I do think Woody had a lot to do with this, but as a GM, you are going to take a lot of the fall on this one.
Too much money tied up in the wrong players. Sanchez contract is the nail in the coffin. I don't think he'll be fired, he'll be kept as a cap specialist, but we need a more football oriented guy as GM.
