He plays a tough and violent style - I think this coaching staff will coach Greene into a very, very good pass protector - something Leon Washington cannot do.
I agree it looks like we will be a pretty good pass protector since Leon is pretty undersized. I still remember Vince Wilfork throwing him around in a game like 2 years ago.
Most importantly, what number will Greene wear? Only 27 and 37 are untaken, unless he take a 40 number which would be badass.
Just found out here at 10:15pm that the Jets traded up and sent three picks to Detroit to select this guy. I am not pleased. He had better be good.
Mason won't have that number for long -- Greene will either buy it from him or he'll get it when Mason's cut.
I've seen him play and didn't like him. I don't see him as being a star runner in the NFL. He's gonna have to be pretty good to justify three picks.
Why didn't you like him? Did he hit the other team too hard? And we gave up 2 picks. 2 picks that could possibly never have even seen the field and been cut in 2 years. Which happens alot with late round draft picks. We got 2 starters, be happy.
A lot of the second video shows some great blocking. But he does run right at people, and isnt easy to take down. Im very happy with the pick up.
What do you not like about him? He is a monster. You act like we would've got someone a whole lot better with those other picks. If it wasn't such a weak draft, maybe I could see the argument.
Cakes, you rarely find a star in the third round, but Shonn Greene can surely be a hell of a powerback for this team... We gave up a 4th and a 7th to move up in the 3rd...we only gave up two picks in my opinion. While the 4th has given us players like Cotchery, Washington and Rhodes, we've also drafted guys like Adrian Jones and Alan Harper. We almost certainly weren't going to find anything but depth in the 7th.
Exactly. Almost every clip he has GAPING holes but He seems to follow blocks and takes the correct lanes. btw, anyone noticed the Madden style spin move @ 3:27? hmy: as I said in the other thread...he's Lamont Jordan part deux...
