only 78 pitches thrown. very strange. If there was some kind of injury, no one is saying anything. Frasor replaced him and gave up a homer, so it's now 1-0 TB in the 8th.
Not a chance. Not only is it a risk of injury (which is the last thing that Toronto needs), but also, he wouldn't have gotten it since he never has pitched anywhere that deep into a game.
He was on a 70 pitch count, but still, I am surprised that they took him out. If it weren't 0-0, maybe they'd keep him in.
yeah, and? The guy has started before, and while he hasn't gone deep into many games, I really would think that they'd give a guy with a no hitter a shot. pulling Marcum might've cost them the game.
OK, well, I didn't take a look at last year because I felt it was irrelevant to this point. He was supposed to be a reliever entering the year, and that's how he was trained and worked out as. Their is no way any organization is going to extend a reliever to over 100 pitches over a no hitter.
he was only at 78 pitches. He's gone well over that in the past. It would've been stretching it for him, but I personally don't agree with pulling him after 6 innings at all. He was a reliever this season, but he started 14 games last season. It's not like he's totally unfamiliar with the ways of a SP. Last year was not irrelevant. You tried to paint him as a guy who's never done this before. He has.
errrr. Alrighty then. Still doesn't change the fact that the most pitches he's thrown this year prior to yesterday is 43, and that was on opening day, and his longest appearance was for 7 outs, and you're asking him for 27 outs.
