Ellis has 3 sacks through 4 games as apposed to 5 last year. He is showing what he can do when your NT is commanding a double team. Keep it up!

Yeah, he's been playing well. Many fans predicted other players on the D playing better with all the new additions

Just wanted to post in this thread because Ellis has been so underrated for years.

    He should be more flashy.

Its amazing how most Jet fans don't appreciate a guy who has lasted through 3 regime changes and is a life long Jet. He has played well in both the 4-3 and 3-4.

    Very true,

I'll bet a lot of posters, in this past offseason, would have released Ellis if they could,

Not to mention an very ill-advised position change to 3T early during Herm's tenure. That could have been a career-killer for a lot of players but he soldiered through it and didn't make a peep, even when he was thrown under the bus by Herm after he was made to gain weight for the moronic move.

I admit I was critical of Ellis for the first time this offseason and I'm glad he is doing well. He's still not a gamebreaker but he's a very good role-player and he is very consistent and he is hardly ever injured.

I think Ellis is one hell of a player. He is the last first round pick from the 2000 draft. I hope he retires a Jet...Thanks for the sure and steady play.

Oh yeah, that was horrible! He has struggled at times, but never ever did anyone ever question his heart or commitment to the Jets. And that to me goes a long way.

To be fair, I didn't think it was the worst idea to move him to the 3-tech, as he was a tweener DE/DT coming out of school. Herm managed the situation poorly and scapegoated him.

With a Beast like Jenkins giving Ellis a chance unlike last season he's gonna put up some good numbers throughout the season. 3 Sacks in 4 Games for a 3-4 DE is pretty nice.

Well, one reason Herm tried to do it was because Ellis was drafted as a 3-4 DE.

It was still a dumb move, but few 3-4 DE's are DE's in the 4-3. It's more how Herm reacted to the failure of the move switch.

Ellis was drafted to be a 3-4 defensive end and he's fulfilling that role this year. The move to DT wasn't ever likely to work and as a 4-3 DE he was a bit slow even at the strongside. He's well-suited in the role the Jets are using him in at the moment and now he has a good player next to him.

Ellis is a true pro in my book. He plays hard and I have never heard him complain about money or anything else.

Five years ago, the Jets visited the Giants pre-season camp in Albany. I was standing near the lane where the players ran to the practice field when Ellis came through. He ran by and slapped my hand. Even though it was a simple hand slap, I could feel the power in that man's hands. He has a big paw with lots of power. I may have experienced some hand pain, but I didn't want to sue.

Again, I have never heard the man complain. I will always be in the corner of a person like that. If we ever get to a Super Bowl, it's guys like Ellis that you really feel good about.

Word. The more we win, the more people will recognize how important he is and has been to this franchise.

Ellis is a solid defender who becomes very good when he has strong support around him.

Obviously, he's thriving this year with the addition of Jenkins and Pace, and was at his best when Abraham was playing the other end position.

Those years when he was without talented D-mates, he struggled to make the impact plays. The exception of course was in the 2004 playoffs when Abe punked out. Ellis was strong and particularly dominant in the divisional heartbreaker in Pittsburgh.

It's good to see him back in the groove.
