I was at that game. Don't have the video but there was a big fight between Jets fans and Chargers fans in the parking lot...Lots of Fun! Just thought I'd chime in :drunk:
We won...we were spanking them and they made a little come back to make the score respectable. I forget the score and am too lazy to look it up  Oh...i just realized you were asking who won the fight Lol! Of course the Jets fans won!
Great! I would love to get a copy, seeing as how I was on camera taunting the Murph right after Curtis broke the Jets all-time rushing record. Just prior to my arrest there. PM me!
the sept 19th 2004 game against san diego? umm monday night miracle, jets chargers wild card game, jets steelers divisional playoff game....
I remember that game. Herm brilliantly goes for an extra point with a 12 point lead and 4 minutes to go. Flutie leads them to TD with 30 seconds to go and we have to sweaty out an onside kick. Thank God he's KC's problem now.
This is what happened: he kicks the XP..we are up 13 they score..we are up by 6 if they had scored again..we lose by 1 This is what happens if they go for 2: If he goes for 2 and miss it we are up 12 they score..we are up 5 if they score again..we lose by 2 If he goes for 2 and makes it we are up 14 they score..we are up 7 if they score again..we are tied and headed to OT Going for 2 is the ONLY correct decision
The game was over after the final TD, the Chargers scored w/ 30 secs left. The likelihood of getting an onside kick and then scoring another TD was very remote. Should he have gone for 2? probbaly but we were never in any serious danger of losing that game.
Read it again. There is ABSOLUTELY NO DOWNSIDE to going for 2 and missing. There is TREMENDOUS UPSIDE to going for 2 and making it. You have to coach to the score..you have to "assume" they will recover the onside kick and score and coach accordingly. It was a indefensible coaching mistake. A rookie mistake in year 4.
You are 100% correct here. If we go for two and don't get it we can still get beat if they score 2 TD's just like if we kick the PAT. If we get the 2 pt. conversion they can't beat us by scoring 2 TD's. the best they can do is tie.
Frankly, this is amazingly obvious..except to Herm. This was a HS coaching mistake..in his 4th year in the NFL...Appalling.
