Looks like Sean is getting looked at by alot of teams in Late Rd 1 & Early RD 2. I took Sean Smith for my Dolphins in our mock, looks like he may become a Phin. 6'4" and ran 4.43.......some of the best Height/Running Ratio at his position ever. Utah’s Smith In Demand Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 2, 2009, 8:38 p.m. University of Utah cornerback Sean Smith is drawing heavy interest from NFL teams, according to a league source. Smith has been scheduled for visits with the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, Eagles and the Dolphins are among the teams that have set up private workouts with Smith. Listed at nearly 6′4 and 214 pounds, Smith is one of the most imposing cornerbacks to enter the draft in recent league history. Smith was clocked in 4.43 seconds during his campus Pro Day workout, improving upon his 4.50 time at the NFL Scouting Combine. Over the past two seasons, the former wide receiver intercepted nine passes and knocked down 15 passes. Smith registered a 34-inch vertical leap at the combine and a 9-11 broad jump.
I didn't know he's 6'4! I'm all for trying to get this guy, we do need a CB to play with Revis for the next 7 years and he might be it.
He'll probably play both in the NFL. Versatility is one of the trademarks of Rex's D, so Smith is one of the players that I'd very much like to have in the fold. I'd HATE to see him as a Phin though. It makes too much sense for them, though.
I've been loving this guy as a DB prospect for awhile. Great size and still very fluid. Has good hands to make picks with. He would be an awsome addition to our DB's. I would have no problem with the Jets takign him at 17. He'll fit next to Rhodes or opposite revis. He would be a Monster in Rex's D.
Phils need a CB and this guy will be too hard to pass up. I would hate to see them get him but it does just make too much sense. I don't think we can go CB in the first, i think we have to go offense, lets hope nobody in the AL East picks him up.
The thing about him is his rare combination of size, versatiliy, strength and smarts. 6'4 he is a WR's nightmare Rex should be licking his chops over this guy
I'm pretty sure Smith measured at 6'3'' at the combine, but that doesn't change much. He was converted to CB from WR, so he's still learning the position and can still get better. And he mostly likely has better hands than the average CB.
If we end up going defense with both our day one picks, imagine a defense with Jarron Gilbert AND Sean Smith? Possibilities would be endless.
a big CB who's fast.........hmmmm........in terms of actual coverage ability, is he more comparable to jimmy williams or scrabble, other notable cbs coming out with good size/speed ratios??
A lot of Phins fans are hoping we get him. if he's available at 25 there's a good chance we'd get him. I'd prefer Connor Barwin or Clay Matthews but if my phins got Sean Smith I wouldn't cry over it.
