Why the hell does this guy get praise from the media? Hes been a terrible OC...Playcalling has been poor and it finally showed today.
We lost a game - get over it. Schotty had some praiseworthy calls today and got timid in the third q when he should have opened up a bit. The O-line was not sharp today and Sanchez looked like a rookie. It was a loss by the entire Offense today, and special teams was flat.
i can't believe all the love this man gets. It's amazing how predicting and ridiculous most of his play calling is.
Believe it or not Shotty is a great offensive mind. Too bad his rook QB had trouble executing his plan today.
I don't really have a problem with Schottenheimer's play calling in this game. The offensive line just didn't do their jobs, plain and simple. Plus Sanchez played a very poor game. His options were very limited so I don't mind his strategy of playing it conservative and hoping that the defense would force some turnovers. It's worth pointing out that when he had no choice but to open things up at the end, Sanchez responded with a terrible sack and a worse interception.
Such a great offensive mind that he's calling plays where practice squad scrubs like Stuckey and Smith are targets in crucial situations.
I don't have a problem with Schotty whatsoever. Sanchez had a meltdown, and single handedly lost the game for us. If he doesn't turn the ball over, we win the game. Defense held that offense to 10 points, which is a phenomenal job.
Is this a joke? Seriously, you guys need to get a grip or something. #rdanddraw, who the fuck should they be throwing the ball too. They can't throw to Cotch on EVERY FREAKING PLAY. Those guys get paid to make plays, and they need to make them. The only one that lost this game for us today was Sanchez. Not Shottenheimer, not Stuckey, but the QB.
I jsut saw your thread calling for Clemens. That thread sucked 1,000 times harder than this one. Our Blocking schemes did not get the job done today. Far too many times there was aat least one saint free from the line to the QB without being touched. That falls on shottys head.
Except for never getting open Stuckey didn't do anything that horrendous this week, but he's had huge drops that cost the Jets points the 2 previous weeks. Smith only got the ball thrown his way 3 or 4 times and he had 2 horrific drops that cost the Jets a TD on one and probably points on the other one. It's the offensive coordinators job to put people in a position to make plays, not throw a rookie QB out there with butterfingers at WR2 and 3 and an ineffectual running game and say "go".
I cannot stress it enough.. The OL did ok run blocking today, we could have done better with a simple smash-mouth running attack against a smaller defense.. Holes were being opened and we were pushing the line of scrimmage all day long, the 'cute' playcalling is what got us into trouble... Giving Sanchez a little too much responsiblity for a rookie where a strong veteran running game would have kept the defense fresh and kept the saints offense off the field while running a smaller defense down.. Next week it will be harder to establish the run against a stalwart Dolphins run defense, but I liked what I saw this week from the OLine (RUN BLOCKING ONLY) the pass blocking was sub-par.. The strength IMO of the Saints defense was the play of their secondary and their ability to get pressure from the outside with their speed rushers and I feel like we played to their strengths.. The way you beat a team like that is run run run at those speed rushers and get them out of the way and beat the living crap out of them.. It's how you also would treat a similar team like the Colts..
