"Schottenheimer also simplified the plan. For all the weapons at Sanchez's disposal, the quarterback leaned heavily on Braylon Edwards and Holmes. He targeted the duo 69% (20 of 29) of the time. Schottenheimer also made sure to call plenty of quick-hitters for Sanchez rather than expose him to the Steelers' top-rated pass rush. Whether it was three-step drops or wide receiver hitches, Sanchez usually got the ball out in a hurry." My favorite part of the gameplan right here. Get him into a rhythm and rely on our big guns to carry the load. I think that was Braylon's best game as a Jet, made those impossible catches look effortless.
Hopefully the game plan will be similar against the Bears... considering their strengths and and weaknesses on D.
I'm on board with this. One of the more frustrating things with Schotty, to me, has always been that he clearly has the potential to come up with great game plans. He's done it in the past, this isn't the first time. It's almost like he needs a kick in the ass to stay focused.
Overall the Bears defense is worse, but their pass defense is better than the Steelers. If our line played like they did last week we should be able to run the ball on them. We just about the Steelers average allowed, if we do that to the Bears we can rush for 180 yards. I think we'll see even more Greene, but LT could excel against the Bears and their run blitz.
That's what I want to see, or if he'll revert to his scared, weak play-calling. I am definitely tough on Schotty, but I believe's he's brought it on himself. No matter what you say an offensive coordinator will always be under fire but moreso when he plays too conservative. This last game was definitely an improvement. Took a page out of NE's playbook where they got short passes going, got Keller a bit more involved which we HAVE to do, to be successful. He's too good of a weapon to be as under utilized as he's been since Santonio came back. :jets:
Three timely third and fourth-down calls proved critical. 1) With the Jets trailing 17-10 midway through the third quarter, the Jets faced what appeared to be a running situation: third-and-1 from their own 46-yard line. But Schottenheimer called for a play fake to Shonn Greene. Mark Sanchez rolled to his left and found Keller for a key 11-yard gain Sure it worked but if anything went awry we would've killed Schotty. Why not go with the higher percentage play?
The Steelers tend to sell out on the run when they think it's a run situation. It's probably not as high a percentage play against that defense as you think it is. There's no problem with the play action boot in that spot. If Keller isn't open he can probably run it for 1 yard.
I'm gonna throw up when they have Sanchez taking 7 step drops and receivers running routes 20 yards down the field on every pass play.
That holding call on the Holmes catch was awful. First down at the five called back. That type of slapdick stuff cannot happen going forward
Why do you want him to be fired? If he got fired they would hire a real coach and Rivers with a real coach would be scary.
