You're gonna get banned. Anyways, not really a surprise. I wonder what hat he'll wear into the hall? AZ where he won his first title, Boston where he is/was a hero for the sock game, or Philly where he made his name.
I don't think he did enough historically in Philly, and he wasn't great in Boston for long enough. I'm going with Arizona.
He's a personallity, and the whole Red Sox, 86 years thing will get him in. Probly not first ballot, but he'll get in.
I think he might get in, but his personality hurts him a LOT more than it helps him. His candidacy is pretty much based entirely on his playoff record. I don't think I'd vote for him.
He's a douche bag. Plus, I don't think that should enter into it anyway. Based on his career, he's not a HOFer to me.
I just hope he gets as irrelevant as fast as possible so I don't have to hear his mouth everytime a steroids situation pops up
I'm pretty sure he'll get in. He's got enough career victories and his postseason stats are tremendous. He's got more career victories than 15 Hall of Fame pitchers who were primarily starters. Hall of Fame pitchers with fewer career wins than Schilling (list includes relievers)- Bruce Sutter- 68 Rollie Fingers- 114 Rich Gossage- 124 Hoyt Wilhelm- 143 Dizzy Dean- 150 Addie Joss- 160 Sandy Koufax- 165 Lefty Gomez- 189 Rube Waddell- 193 Ed Walsh- 195 Dazzy Vance- 197 Dennis Eckersley- 197 Jack Chesbro- 198 Rube Marquard- 201 Bob Lemon- 207 Hal Newhouser- 207 Don Drysdale- 209 Jesse Haines- 210 Chief Bender- 212 Stan Coveleski- 215
I'd say he is, once we factor out wins the way should be, especially in this era. Baseball Reference's black and grey ink standards have him in.
I just don't put him up there as an all time great. He was always very, very good, but I don't think that's good enough to make the HOF. He was a guy that would strike guys out, not walk guys, and put up a mid 3s ERA in the NL. I don't see that as HOF material. I'm not saying that there's no way he deserves it or won't get in. He's not even a lock no for me if I were voting, he's a borderline guy. But I think I have higher standards than some of the writers that vote.
hes a lock for the jerkoff hall of fame. always has to have an opinion on everything, no matter how uninformed he is.
I absolutely loathe that piece of trash... His numbers may be borderline HOF but his postseason accomplishments are pretty legit and will prob get him in. He has 2 rings and the 04 Red Sox are everybody's favorite la dee da story of the current millenium so I see him getting in...
