Says the Jets want to trade him but many in the league believe he may only have 1 year left because of his knee. He has missed no practiced or games the last 2 years because of his knee. It will very difficult to get decent compensation when it's "believed" a guy has a bad knee and also needs a new contract.
If he has not missed one game in a while, how is his knee so scary?? Who is putting this BS out in the media to stop a trade between us and another team... He's had good statistical seasons for us, but no injuries... WTF?
It's bone on bone, he will miss games eventually and is probaably the driving reason we're trying to unload him.
Everybody's known for a while about his degenerative knee condtion. He's just bringing it to the forefront of discussions as I think it is playing a major role in his trade value. It appears to be exactly the reason the Cincinnati trade did not go through.
Does anyone think the Jets need to trade Drob before the start of the conditioning program, March 18?. I t would be hard for me to believe the Jets would allow him tp participate and risk injury. If he gets injured the Jets would have to pay the entire 9 million.
somehow i doubt a guy who has been given permission to seek a trade and knows he is going to be released if that doesn't happen, will be participating in his current teams conditioning program
Not for nothing, but Schefter is a former reporter for the Denver Post. He couldn't have his nose further up Mike Shanahan's ass. So, he's providing cover and trying to drive down the market for Shanny.
I thought the driving reason was that he is an expensive, underachieving 1st Round BUST who is too small to ride horses.
this is a cut-n-paste of my post from the main thread 'drob has bone on bond, a bloated contract, too small, cant trade him' blah blah blah. this is all rubbish. other teams have GM's that are not stupid and will try to get players like drob for as little as possible. here's the deal with drob: if he were a true FA, several teams would be talking to his agent right now because he is still a force to be reconned with. several teams would love to get him. but the jets may have to cut him anyway, so the teams that are interested in him are staying low and gauging the interest from other teams. it'd be nice to get him without loosing draft pics, but that only works if no other team steps up and starts bidding for him (after we cut him) the closer it gets to june 1st, the more nervous the teams that want him will become. 'do we give up a late round pic to garuantee we get drob or do we wait until after june 1st and possibly miss out altogether' the more teams we can project that are interested in him (denver, bengals, ect), the more likely a team will panic and fork over a draft pick to avoid potential drama and missing out on him. i'm certain there are other teams that have not said a word yet and are just sitting back judging the whole situation. we will end up with a 4th or 5th round pic for him
I have been hearing alot about his knee and all the possible failed trades. Does anybody thing we will cut him before june or keep him and take the hit
How is a guy who started virtually every single game of his 6 year career and had many VERY good games considered a bust? Oh yeah..I forgot. This is a jets board w/ jets fans.
Yeah well I just take it as the fact that he doesnt fit in our system any more and the money he is making is alot
Teams pick players number 1 or 2 overall (Ryan Leaf)and they end up being BUSTS, so what is the big deal if Robertson may be cut.Is it his fault that he was drafted to play in a 3-4 defense.Isn't Michael Haynes one of the guys Chicago drafted in that trade for what turned out to be DROB?Yes Michael Haynes, the same player who was cut by the Saints and then cut by the Jets before training camp.Big deal some picks work out some don't you move on and continue the process.
Well he was the highest paid DT this year and 2nd highest next year without renegotiations, so that's a little much for what he's done, even in a 4-3.
