Adam Schefter Cardinals trade for Carson Palmer now official. Raiders get back a conditional 7th-rd pick in 2014 if Palmer starts 13 games. Adam Schefter Cardinals QB Carson Palmer agreed to restructured 2-year deal scheduled to pay him $16 million. It also gives Cards an out after one year. ----- Seems like a great deal for the Cardinals... also should take them out of the equation for a QB in the first round, but not necessarily the second
Great deal for the Cardinals? 10 mill guaranteed to a broken-down Palmer? I give him 5 days behind that OL before landing on IR.
If that were to happen, they wouldn't give up a draft pick for him and would be able to cut him after 1 year. If he plays well, then they get tremendous value out of a 7th round pick and have a cost-controlled QB for another year while they can develop a new guy or try and re-sign Carson Palmer for a couple more years
They are now free to,bolster that oline in the draft and not have to over draft a qb in a shitty class. All in all a solid move.
Palmer can move the ball, last season the Cards struggled getting downs. Also LOL at the Raiders, they gave up 2 first round draft picks less than 2 years ago for Palmer and he is already gone.
So much for a "real" competition this year at QB. Alex Smith and Matt Flynn were available, no dice. Kolb was there, nope, Palmer? Nada. Unless they draft a guy, Sanchez will be the starter next year even if he throws 35 INTs in camp.
