Mark Sanchez, WOW, he talks and says its his fault, he says that he has to better himself, says that he needs to protect the football, says he has to make better reads, i say he is not. I say he has happy feet, which is fine because he is a rookie, he does not look off the safeties, does not even pump fake when he needs to i seen him pump fake like 3 or 4 times in ten games, he has a horrible play action move almost not existant, what film has he been watching? 10 games still do not see improvement, i think he needs to contact peyton manning. Its not all his fault because schottenheimer should see these things too, we will never win unless he fixes these poor basic QB skills, he is practically giving the game away.
Been a jet fan since 1975 thats shen i was born, it pains me to see our good defense, having to be out there more than they have to, man darelle revis always does his part man hurts me when a great corner like that has to walk off the field a loser because his QB gives the ball to the opponent 2 times a game, tires our defense out by the time 4th quarter comes, im really pissed off. schottenheimer should let sanchez play the chad pennington playbook so that he can get his confidence up, and throw it deep a couple of times.
Right...that's where you are dead wrong. Mark isn't even that off on his deep ball really, in fact, he isn't struggling making what you would call big pays or tough throws. It's the complex "dink and dunk" stuff where he absolutely fails to make the correct reads or folds in the pocket whether it be taking his eyes off the field and looking at the rush or bad footwork. Sigh...
Question, who is teaching Sanchez? Its not like we have a veteran QB to help him learn the basics of the game (wish we did). I feel he is just learning everything on his own and while he says he needs to learn from his mistakes, I feel like he has no one to teach him how. If Pennington's career is over as a QB we should hire him as a QB coach LOL. At least he has decent intelligence for a QB and could teach Sanchez how to read defenses and what not.
Just like the deep ball, the underneath routes and reads are highly valued.. He is the opposite of pennington. In todays game though, he had a few good reads with zip (Clowney dropping a pass and edwards on 3rd down, even if it was tipped it hit him in the chest) from short range. There has been times this year that he will throw a great zip route or an amazing 3 step slant. Then there are times he throws a duck behind a guy, or gets happy feet and sails it.. Point being, he is a rookie who has alot upside.. If this was year 3 I could understand the calling for sanchez, its game 10 boys.. GAME 10
If he's regressed since the start of the season, how the hell do we get this kid to develop during the next 6 games?
my point exactly, chad penny book is where he has to be better at right? then thats what he has to use to better those reads no one will get better at something if you dont use it. sighs........
learning how an NFL defense works and schemes and blitzes is something you dont pick up over night.. It takes time. He will be ok.
exactly game 10 how many games you need to establish timing? how much film you need to see to fix tremendously obvious mistakes? look offs would erase about 7 INTS, pump fakes would erase about 5 INTs , not having happy feet would help in the cause as well.
its tough, with cotch missing 3 games, working with a new wr in week 5, losing your best receiving option out of the backfield in week 7. Consistancy is HUGE for a rookie, it breeds confidence. When you dont have your best WR for 3 games and is trying to get on the same page with a new WR during the mid season, not TC, its definately evident by the 2-3 passes a game where the reciever runs one way and sanchez throws another...
That was a huge mistake the team made this offseson, instead of keeping KC somebody like Garcia should have been brought in on the cheap and taught this kid the game. I wouldn't hire Pennington but honestly I think it's too late to go with the Vet QB so we just have to hope it turns out for the best at this point.
So Flacco and Matt Ryan are still learning? I agree that Sanchez is NOT learning. Even I know when to throw the ball away.
Watching those two guys this year it looks like they both have taken steps back. Ryan has thrown about as many interceptions as Sanchez. Granted Turner and Roddy White have been nicked up but Atlanta seems to be going the wrong way as does Baltimore. Neither team is exactly in playoff position and both have gotten shaky at best QB play the last month.
True Chris, but what I meant was how they played their first season. Ryan and Flacco have the sophmore slump. But both teams are still doing better than our Jets. Hey you been to JR's lately? How is it? I miss the place.
Flacco and Mat Ryan are learning. They both have come down to normalicy this year. Ryan has thrown more INT this year than last year, less completion percentage, on pace for few yards and this is with a better core of receivers (Tony gonzalez) Flacco is playing better than this year than last, but with a rediculous defense and the same virtual offense as last year, he has the chance to grow.
