Seems like a totally different person, he seems to have more fight in him and maybe hitting bottom and being ridiculed and labeled a bust has turned him around....... Now I am not saying he will be a great quarterback but the better he is, the better Smith will be and if Sanchez can keep the starting job to have Smith sit and learn instead of being thrown into the fore even for close to half the games he would of done this franchise a great service and would be the best scenario

I think this started after the 2011 locker room debacle.

He knows where he's at in terms of his career and what he's done. he's certainly been battered more than most amongst media and fans, and yes he's earned a bit of that too as well.

The biggest respect I have for him right now is that he maintains a strong work ethic despite it all and while that seems fruitless so far it ties a lot to keep focussed where he needs to be.

If he was a lazy asshole I'd be belittling his ass rather than just being disappointed and ready to move on after this one last chance.

he is mentally weak and mentally broken. I wish I was wrong but it's true and he has already played in his last game as a Jet IMHO

Sanchez always wins the offseason. Talk to me when he's not shitting his pants vs. the Pats.

Agreed. People who want Sanchez to fail are insane. I hope Sanchez starts this season and does well.

Same here. Whoever is under center has my support all the way.

I do see some maturing in Sanchez, but one thing to note is that I think this has a lot to do with Rex as well, who also has been seriously maturing as a head coach. When Rex took over the Jets were acting like a bunch of immature punks... they certainly weren't acting like they had been there before and done it already. Sanchez, and the rest of the Jets, are to some degree a reflection of Ryan's growing maturity.

The Jets have been down the last two years but I imagine they'll get this thing corrected soon enough.

Good point about Rex..... It always amazes me how a whole team takes on the personality of their head coach... I will always be a fan of Rex Ryan he brought this team to a level where we were respected and played with a lot more toughness..... Last year aside.... Because before him we were always going through a process and yada yada yada

I don't think people want Sanchez to fail. Fans want others who are still in denial to realize Sanchez isn't the answer. At his best Sanchez can prob get you into a playoff with a great team behind him he could even be a Trent Dilfer. He isn't the guy that will have you competing year after year. Isn't 4 years enough to know where a QB stands? Vince Young got 5 season with the Titans before they shipped him out and he took 1 season off due to injuries. How many QB get that many years as a starter and have chance after chance. Look at the Browns, even with a crappy supporting cast they only give their QB 1 season at the most before they are through with them. I guess what I'm saying is I want us to find our Kaepernick, Wilson, RG3, Luck, Brady, Big Ben, Brees, or Manning. There are so many QB out there who deserve a chance to prove themselves.

Sanchez dominated the offseason last year too. Let's hope he can transform it into on the field improvements this year.

He's always been great in the media and doesn't stir anything up

This seems like a reoccurring every offseason. The outcome hasnt changed.

I did think what he said about Steve Smith was pretty funny. IN case you missed it Carolina Panther's WR essentially said he sucks and he wouldn't let Mark throw him sandwiches in a paper bag. Sanchez's reply... I wish them a healthy and good season.

I am really rooting for Sanchez to have a great season. Not, because I am a Sanchez lover, but because I think this guy has been so unfairly vilified. Was he awful last season?...absolutely. But if he had a mildly competent OC, a decent O-Line, and some play-makers around him, maybe he would not have regressed so horribly. If this season doesn't go well, then he has to go, but I'd love to see him have some success.

I didnt expect much the first two years based on his play time in college. And last year was a joke thanks to the injuries and inexperience at WR and TE.

    But whatever.

We've seen this before. I mean, it's pretty common knowledge that Sanchez actually does work hard and honestly tries to become better. In the end, he's just not very good.

Fuck Sanchez. Every year it's the same old he is really working, hitting the gym, getting extra reps, studying film, first on the field and last to leave, a leader in the locker room....blah blah blah. It's a broken record.

You can shine up a turd, but it is still just a turd.

Fool me once, shame on me....

I've seen this enough times with Sanchez that I'm not really reading much into it. First, it was Jets West with him trying to gel with our WRs, then he came into the season as someone that was going to break out and had a "different look" to him. Then came last season, where he was physically and mentally mature and in the proverbial "best shape of his life".

I'm not rooting against him, but his back is against the wall at this point. He's been given enough chances to succeed and has regressed. If Geno beats him out in a competition, I'm not going to shed a tear. On the other hand, if he does beat out Geno, I'll be cheering for Sanchez in Week 1 as much as anyone.

I'll root for whoever is under center, but it's a day late & dollar short on him maturing now. We needed him to be mature two years ago. He's getting paid millions of dollars to live his dream, and his ego is so thin that we're giving him a contract extension so that he won't be mad at us....it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. You're a starting QB in the NFL. Shut up & play. If you wanted longer to mature, stay in school 4 years. You left for the money, earn the money.

This ain't Ohio. If you want a friend, get a dog.

Imagine this guy playing for Parcells....?
