#Jets have shifted money around in QB Mark Sanchez' contract. Will attempt to figure out what they did in a day or 2. #nyj

Meaning front loading his contract for this year to release for next year?( just making sure) I know he is due big numbers both years

Wonder how much space this creates and why he would do this(Free agent?) Who knows Tanny be doing some mystical shit with the Cap number

Anything to make him always play as if he were behind by 10 in the 4th quarter...

I SERIOUSLY doubt it's to release him. I know a lot of players are due some big numbers next year, like Holmes because they took a paycut this year. So next year would be an issue with cap space.

We somewhere around 8 mil. under the cap this year I think, so it'd be best to just free up as much space as possible for next year to help pay for that and our FA.

That's under the assumption that they did that in the first place and didn't lower his salary, which I doubt he'd agree to.

Moving money forward is a smart move on the Jets part. Converting salary to bonus doesn't do a lot for the cap because it just makes big hits in an individual year into smaller hits on an annual basis. This is how the Jets got into the "can't release him due to the cap" situation with Vinny. He restructured salary into bonus 3 years in a row and left the back years cap heavy due to the cumulative effect of prorating the bonus money.

    Details

Doing some quick math...if deal was done last week Mark took a 525K paycut in 2011 and will earn it back in 2013.

I love that guys site. Amazing insight into not just the cap but recaps of games and statistics.

They are going to cut him in the offseason, so they are going reduce the cap hit.

Peyton Manning for two first rounders woooo!!!!! Can't wait to make the SOJF move of the century!!!

I know, I enjoy mocking the tards.

I can see money, no matter the amount, being moved to get someone big once again in FA.

They need to find some safety help. LaRon Landry and Tyvon Branch are probably the top 2 FA safeties this offseason.

Landry has had some injury issues this year and was just put on IR for the rest of the season. It might be risky, but if he seems healthy before training camp starts next year he might be able to be signed at a discount.

Branch will probably be overpaid by the Raiders, but who knows with Davis gone.

Couple guys to keep an eye on if the Jets get serious about finding safety help.

Well aware. London Fletcher. Robert Mathis(4-3 DE). John Abraham(Again 4-3 DE). Arian Foster. Matt Forte. Mario Williams. Lyron Landry. Tyron Branch. Brandon Meriweather.

There is alot we could reach for but who could we honestly bring in? I didn't list any tackles cause the only 2 are Ben Grubbs and KAreem Mckenzie others are journeymen

I love to get MArio Williams here he would set us on a whole different level but will Command a Hugh Contrat but with Byran possibly coming off the books why not attempt!

With some luck Mark Barron is sitting there in the late 1st. The Jets not only need a safety they need somebody who can match up with Gronkowski for the next 5 years or so.

Cosign. As much as Sanchez can piss us off at times. His numbers have IMRPOVED ALOT. He has gotten better and better, unlinke guys like Bradford, Freeman, Flacco, Ryan who have all regressed completely.

Sanchez's numbers through 3 years have better than say Brees, will Sanchez end up as good as Brees? who knows, but he is showing good signs, even though the media gives him so much negativity.

Yeah I just realized Matt has imrpoved since his bad start. Flacco and Freeman though are jokes. Freeman especially, people were calling him a top 10 QB over Eli Manning. Now look at Freeman, hes horrible. I told people not to jump the gun on him...

What most people fail to understand is that the left over cap space is pushed forward to 2012. The cap space of almost $9 mil creates an extra $18 mil of space next year

Assume cap space to be $100 mil this yr. We are at $91mil. $9 mil left over for 2012, making 2012 cap to be $109 mil for us. From $91 mil to $109 mil is an additional $18 mil at our disposal before the increase on most contracts' amounts. That is why 500k of this yr was moved to 2013. Freeing up 500k this yr gives us an extra $1 mil for 2012, just like $9 mil gives us additional $18 mil.

And if anyone thinks we r planning to release Sanchez, then please come back to sanity. Even if Sanchez loses the next three games and throws 2TDs against 9 ints, he'll still be our QB for next year.
