I always think the week of practice, as many a coach has said, will give you a good idea how your team will perform come game time. Now, I have no idea whether these little issues this week are isolated, or part of a bigger issue, but it seems like our QB may have a bit too much on his plate these days. In addition to being an hour late for his Michael Kay interview Tuesday evening, which Kay was obviously upset about and went unexplained to the audience, this was in the Daily News the other day. Anyone else concerned that Mark can possibly be distracted lately, especially given his last performance? Or have my 30+ years of watching this team made me paranoid!?! ---------- Jets QB Mark Sanchez wasn't just tardy for the party - player was no-show for charity event Wednesday, December 1st 2010, 4:00 AM Where was Mark Sanchez on Monday evening? The Jets quarterback may find himself scrambling more than usual against the Patriots next week after leaving two of his offensive linemen in the lurch at a charity event. Sources tell us sexy Sanchez was supposed to co-host "New York Jets Tear Up the Pierre," with teammates D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Damien Woody, at the Pierre Hotel on Monday evening, but never showed. The fund-raiser, which benefited the Robin Hood Foundation and the PROS charity, included a runway show that featured a number of Jets in Apple Bottom fashions. But our sources tell us Sanchez never made it to the hotel, let alone the catwalk. He was even missing from the after-party at Tzigan in the Meatpacking District. The first sign of trouble came when the play-caller was absent from the dress rehearsal earlier that afternoon. Though one source says Sanchez "promised" to make it to the fashion show, he was nowhere to be found when the 8 p.m. start time rolled around. According to the source, event organizers had a car at the footballer's home ready to retrieve him, and tried in vain to reach him by phone more than once. When we asked Woody why his teammate wasn't at the cocktail party before the runway show, he said the California native was "caught at an ESPN shoot" that was taking place in preparation for next Monday's game against the Pats. Our source tells us the show ultimately was delayed 30 minutes in hopes that Sanchez would arrive, but he never did. Another insider says the QB didn't answer a call Woody made to him prior to the show in an effort to determine Sanchez's whereabouts. Sanchez's agent, David Dunn, did not respond to our request for comment by deadline. With Carson Griffith and Molly Fischer cgriffith@nydailynews.com, mfischer@nydailynews.com
Studying film, he's been going nuts this week. He was an hour late calling the MK show, and it's all film related. So I think it's just the opposite, he is focused on 1 thing and 1 thing only.
Could totally be, hope you're right. And, no, didn't say he's a dick, but I can actually think critically (shocker for this board, I know) and don't just wave pom-poms. His play was poor last week and I read that article - wondered if it could be connected, that's all.
Did anyone listen to the Michael Kay show as I stated? He's had to be removed from the complex, is putting everything all his focus on this game. I'm sure he just forget.
of course not. the darksiders would rather take a stupid story from the damn gossip section of a newspaper and make it as it's big news.
I wouldn't put much emphasis on this stuff. This is all extra stuff. All of us have missed an appointment at one time or another. Some times even for stupid reasons.
I'll be the first to come back here and admit I was stupid for even worrying about this if Mark plays well, win or lose, believe me. And, yes, it is that small piece of darksider still in me, forged after The Mud Bowl, that refuses to see the light sometimes!
Ha! And yours reminds me of the moment that solidified the darksider in me....the Cleveland playoff game!
Yes. Awesome interview. And that's not the first time he was late. One week he completely missed the call. Kay was really pissed that week. He was pissed this week too cause he "purple nurpled" Sanchez when he said "Mark Sanchez and Eli Manning, who's always on time..." lol Awesome uniform though. My favorite helmet.
Yawn... The guy has the biggest game of the season, one of the biggest of his young career. I'm glad he didn't show up. Priorities. Would have been nice of him to call. But, who cares. Throw them a few K in donations after we beat the Pats.
