Two of the better teams in baseball right now. This is an important series for both teams - the Padres are only a half game up on the Dodgers and the Mets are only 2.5 games behind the Braves. Tonight we'll see Clayton Richard vs. Mike Pelfrey. Rex Ryan's throwing on the first pitch. Richard's been very good season this, but Pelfrey's been better. Like I said about the game on June 2nd: if both guys are at the top of their game tonight, it should be a low scoring, close ball game. Tomorrow we'll see Mat Latos vs. Johan Santana. The series ends with Jon Garland vs. RA Dickey. Looking forward to another good series.
Reyes ties it up with a HR that barely cleared the fence. 1-1. Pelfrey is looking really good tonight.
Reyes ties the game but the umpire blows the home run call. It's now going to replay and should be ruled a home run.
How can you say that? They have basically the same stats tonight. He also just gave up a double to Lance Zawadzki, who is most definitely the worst player on the Pads roster.
He's not doing A LOT better. Pelfrey hasn't given up a walk or a home run. Only 89 Pitches through 8 innings. 2 less hits, one less walk, one less homer, and 9 less pitches in one EXTRA inning. I'll say he's doing a little better.
Pelf through 8 on 89 pitches. Other than that one game against Philly on May 1st, he's really had an amazing year (1.64 ERA).
