This isn't like the past. 99.9% of his deal is done before talks begin. Like Kurt said: the offset language is the hold up but won't be an issue. He will be in camp Friday. No doubt about it. Maybe even today.
Although I do think it’s weird that he’d participate in all the offseason practices but skip the rookie report day where they probably just get lectured about the structure of training camp. Not sure why you’d miss that but I guess that’s why I’m not an agent.
yeah I was wondering if they would get into any contact drills on the first day, seems outlandish but you never know.
His insurance policy is probably up (most likely underwritten with the expiration being training camp start date) which explains why he was at OTAs and Rookie camp without a deal but not now. Any reports on Mayfield? He's not signed last I looked either wondering if he's doing the same.
funny enough none of the QBs really are. there are 7 unsigned players from the draft still Browns, 1-1: Baker Mayfield, QB (Oklahoma) Jets, 1-3: Sam Darnold, QB (USC) Browns, 1-4: Denzel Ward, CB (Ohio State) Bills, 1-7: Josh Allen, QB (Wyoming) Bears, 1-8: Roquan Smith, LB (Georgia) Steelers, 1-28: Terrell Edmunds, S (Virginia Tech) 49ers, 2-44: Dante Pettis, WR (Washington) including the top 3 Qbs taken. my guess is they are waiting for mayfield and the language he gets to set the bar which should set a standard for darnold and then allen.
It’s all Baker Mayfield’s fault. The 30 year old 5’-6” non-talented already out of the league before training camp bust.
