Greetings. Name describes me well enough but unlike typical competitive fans I don't share the same "team bashing" gene (i'm sure some you know what i'm talking about). Anyway, girlfriend and my Uncle are both Jets fans (though the girl is slowly converting) and to further our discussions I was hoping to siphon some "knowledgeable" fans for some info. Particularly regarding the Jet's salary cap. I know that when the off-season started they were 15 over. I "heard" Abraham saved them 8. Pennington restructured, throw in a few signings, etc. But does anyone know where it stands now? I'm also interested because the Jets draft is getting a lot of attention this year with a high pick and two first rounders. Your draft is definitely a little more exciting to talk about, but I'm a big supporter of trading down (if possible) when there are multiple positions that need to be addressed. And I'm thinking that if the Jets are still over the cap it would make even more sense, as a 4th rounder and additional picks this year will soak up more money they might not have. Thanks.
Good link. So the approx. salary cap for 2006 is 102 million correct? 84 million as it stands now leaves about 18 million. That 4th round pick could be pricey if a QB or RB is chosen... not that I think either will be taken... How much for all the draft picks? 8 million? Looks like the Jets are in a much better position now... financially. But of course, who knew what the new CBA was going to look like.
