This is depressing as hell. And 100% true. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/11_1081_.html A good read for any Jets fan nonetheless. Or Pats fan, really.
Probably right. And of course all the Jets fans thinking "kill the bastard" as Bledsoe dropped back to pass in that game got hoisted on a generational petard.
Funny, I thought the exact same thing. I remember in 2000 after the Pats had lost their first 2 games, the local talk radio shows were just starting to say that Belichick's job was at risk. I think that if Brady had not saved that season, Belichick may have gotten canned. With Bledsoe as their QB, a 6-10 season would not have been improbable. I remember them winning a lot of close games that year.
That article is pretty much right in the money. For all the people who hail Bellichick as the greatest coach of our time, he was 5-13 in New England before Brady came in there.
I keep hearing comments that the Pats knew what they had in Brady before the injury to Bledsoe, but if so, I cannot imagine why they did not put him in sooner. I am sure they knew he was a solid young guy to have behind Bledsoe, but I have a hard time believing anyone dreamed he was going to possibly become the greatest of all time.
Brady had a very good Pre-Season that year and I think that they were high on him coming into that season. To say that they knew what they had though is beyond ridiculous. That says that Belichick knew he had a future HOF QB and he decided to let him sit on the bench because he didn't want to hurt his star QB's feelings. Does that sound like Belichick?? Certainly not the way he handled Kosar in Cleveland!!!
I agree. I would have expected Beli to bench him more quickly unless because of the Kosar deal he was going to try and not hurt any of Drew's fans by showing him the bench. Yeah, that doesn't show like Beli either. lol
From the 60 Minutes Brady piece; http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mo+lewis+bledsoe I remember it like it was yesterday --- jumping up off my couch & yelling, "Yeah, F--k you Belichick!! -- That's what you get for leaving us!!!"
Bellichick also wouldn't have waited until the 6th round to draft him if he had any idea. If anyone had any idea he would have gone at the top of the draft. But once he got in there he left no doubt, even with a team that looked to be in turmoil, it didn't take three years to figure it out. By the time Bledsoe got better it was a foregone conclusion that Brady was their guy.
Meh. Old news. I have so many new worries, that I need not concern myself with old news. I did, however, enjoy the description of Camerlengo.
lol damn... "Lewis didn’t have a silver hammer, but he did use his polyethylene shoulder pads to end the reign of a weak leader and usher in the era of a strong one, even hastening the subjugation of his own people, Jets fans, in the process." This dude said "Subjugation" =/
I think the cameras and audio helped a little. Lets not forget tuck rule.Telling his players to hold rams receivers on every play because they wont call it in a superbowl helped to. I cant wait to see the go down in the playoffs.
