    ~ ~ Yes, Jim Leonhard is the odds-on favorite to start at safety alongside Kerry Rhodes in the Jets? secondary. But don?t be surprised if Abram Elam makes a serious run at playing time. The Jets matched the Browns? offer sheet for the restricted free agent because head coach Rex Ryan sees what Eric Mangini saw in Elam: A raw, high-flying athlete who could blossom into a playmaker once he fine-tunes his game. There may not be a better head coach in the league in developing defensive talent than Ryan.

    No, he still is...

    If Ryan can kick some sense into Elam and turn him into anything but a liability, he could be a very good player. We have already seen his ability to make plays, and w/o him we lose one game to Buffalo last year, possibly both.

    End of next season Elam will be more highly regarded/rated than Leonard.
    I played and coached SS/ FS for many years , this kid has all the tools.
    For you sarcastic bastards , no I'm not a f'n NFL coach , but should be :wink:

    Elam seems inconsistent. If he can cut down on that, great, but...

    Maybe the CS will help.
